Les Rencontres Ad Hoc
Off-the-beaten-path documentary film festival in the Drôme Valley
2026
About Les Rencontres Ad Hoc
Every year in early September, the village of Mirabel-et-Blacons in the Drôme Valley hosts Les Rencontres Ad Hoc, a festival dedicated to independent documentary cinema. Organized by the association of the same name with support from the mobile cinema group Mondes et Multitudes, the event showcases around fifteen films that have not been broadcast on national television, focusing on discovery rather than competition or awards. Screenings take place both outdoors and in local venues, followed by discussions with the filmmakers and thematic roundtables, all complemented by concerts, exhibitions, and participatory workshops. Guest filmmakers are hosted by local residents, supported by a team of around sixty volunteers.
Les Rencontres Ad Hoc — edition 2026
For its 9th edition, running from September 8 to 13, 2026, the festival will showcase sixteen documentary films selected by the programming committee from 180 entries, with no set theme. The event kicks off at the Cinéma Eden in Crest and Espace(s) in Loriol, continues with outdoor and indoor screenings in Mirabel-et-Blacons featuring concerts and two panel discussions, and concludes with the screening of short films from the Klimax'Doc competition.
