Merci Bonsoir: Street Arts in Grenoble

Merci Bonsoir is a festival of street arts and music that takes place every year in September at Parc Bachelard, in the southern district of Grenoble. Co-organized by the associations Mix'Arts and Le Prunier Sauvage, this festival was born in 2016 from the desire to create a live performance event in the open air, accessible to all, in a public park in Grenoble.

A Free-Price Festival

One of the major features of Merci Bonsoir is the free price. This principle guarantees access to culture for all audiences, without financial barriers. Each spectator is free to contribute according to their means, making the festival an exemplary space for cultural democratization. This accessibility is at the heart of the project carried by Mix'Arts and Le Prunier Sauvage.

A Rich and Eclectic Program

Over four days, Merci Bonsoir offers more than 25 shows and 6 concerts, bringing together around 200 artists from some forty French and international companies. The program is deliberately eclectic, mixing street theater, dance, circus, music, and hybrid forms. The festival showcases both emerging companies and established artists, offering a broad panorama of contemporary street arts.

Ten Years of Festival in 2025

In 2025, Merci Bonsoir celebrated its tenth anniversary with a special edition from September 17 to 20. This anniversary was an opportunity to measure the progress made since the first edition: the festival has become a must-attend event for the cultural season in Grenoble, attracting a loyal and diverse audience, and contributing to the influence of street arts in the Grenoble metropolitan area.

A Civic and Engaged Festival

Merci Bonsoir mobilizes around 250 volunteers and a team of about twenty employees each year. The festival is part of a civic and solidarity-based approach, with partnerships with social structures in the neighborhood and the Grenoble metropolitan area. A pre-festival, organized before the main event, helps to create connections with local residents and prepare for the opening of the cultural season for several venues in the metropolitan area.

Parc Bachelard: A Green Setting

Parc Bachelard is a green space located in the southern district of Grenoble, near Le Prunier Sauvage. This green setting offers an ideal backdrop for outdoor performances, with natural areas conducive to artistic strolls and stage installations. The park also hosts the Bachelard stadium, allowing for the installation of various stages and performance spaces.
