Festival Voix aux Fenêtres: World Voices in Grenoble
The Festival Voix aux Fenêtres is a singular event dedicated to world voices and cultural diversity. Organized by the association Musiques Créatives du Sud, it offers every September an exceptional vocal journey through the historic heart of Grenoble and Saint-Martin-d'Hères.
A Festival of Vocal Encounters
The festival celebrates 'the roots of elsewhere of the people here', inviting vocal artists from all over the world to perform in emblematic venues in Grenoble. From traditional voices to contemporary creations, the program offers a unique panorama of world vocal traditions: indigenous chants, polyphonies, Mediterranean music, sacred and secular songs.
A Walking Tour
The originality of the Festival Voix aux Fenêtres lies in its walking tour format. Concerts unfold in various and often unexpected places: Café des Arts, museums, inner courtyards, windows, and heritage sites in the Saint-Laurent and Alma-Très-Cloîtres districts. The public is invited to wander through the city's architectural heritage to the rhythm of the voices.
Workshops and Creations
In addition to concerts, the festival offers vocal workshops open to all, such as 'Le Souffle de la Voix' led by Eveline Causse. Original artistic creations are also commissioned each year, such as 'Sur les pavés de mon enfance' by Armande Ferry-Wilczek for the 2025 edition. The festival is committed to cultural mediation in partnership with local structures like Humacoop, Hôpital Rocheplane, or Domptelio.
An International Program
Over the years, the festival has hosted remarkable artists from around the world. The 2025 edition notably featured Diana Baroni with indigenous songs and tales, as well as several other artists for eight concerts spread over four days. The diversity of voices presented—from Latin America, Africa, the Mediterranean basin, and Asia—makes the festival a unique crossroads of global vocal traditions.
The Festival Voix aux Fenêtres is supported by the City of Grenoble and Grenoble Alpes Métropole, and participates in the European Heritage Days.
