The great fair-exposition of Romans-sur-Isère since 1930
Created in 1930 to boost the local economy after the 1929 crisis, the Foire du Dauphiné is one of the first fairs in France and a must-see event in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Every year at the end of September, over 400 exhibitors take over 23,000 m² to showcase housing, gastronomy, automotive, tourism, new technologies, and crafts. With its rides, concerts, entertainment, and food stalls, the Foire du Dauphiné attracts over 100,000 visitors during ten days of commercial and popular festivities.
The Foire du Dauphiné, commonly known as the "Foire de Romans," is one of the oldest and most important trade fairs in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Created in 1930 by Robert Dreyfus, Roger Segondi, and Paul Deval, three shopkeepers from the town center of Romans-sur-Isère, it was born from the desire to revitalize the local economy in the difficult context of the post-1929 crisis.
From its early editions in the 1930s, the Foire de Romans established itself as a showcase for the region's industrial know-how, particularly the shoe and leather industry, the city's historical pride. After World War II, the organizers expanded the event's scope to make it a national and international fair. In the 1950s, the fair forged partnerships with twin cities, such as Varese in Italy, to host foreign industrial productions.
Over the decades, the Foire du Dauphiné has continuously reinvented itself, evolving from an essentially industrial fair to a major commercial and festive event, reflecting economic changes and public expectations.
Today, the Foire du Dauphiné brings together over 400 exhibitors each year on an area of 23,000 m², covering sectors as varied as:
The Foire du Dauphiné is also a great festive occasion for the whole family. Visitors can enjoy fairground rides and attractions, open-air concerts, shows, and various entertainment. About twenty food stalls offer local specialties and international cuisine, creating a friendly and gourmet atmosphere.
With an estimated economic impact of 18 million euros and over 100,000 visitors, the Foire du Dauphiné is a highlight of the economic and social life of the Drôme department and the entire Dauphiné region.
After several years without an edition, the Foire du Dauphiné made its grand return in 2025 on a new site: the terrain des Glycines, near the La Monnaie district, offering six hectares of space to welcome exhibitors and visitors in optimal conditions of comfort and safety.
The 86th edition of the Foire du Dauphiné will be held starting September 26, 2026, at the Les Glycines site in Romans-sur-Isère. Over 400 exhibitors and numerous entertainment activities are expected for this major regional fair-exposition.
