Montmélian Photography Festival

About Montmélian Photography Festival
Throughout the summer, the facades of Montmélian's historic center are transformed by large-format prints: around fifty works by five photographers are displayed outdoors, stretching from the Esplanade François-Mitterrand to the Musée de la Vigne et du Vin de Savoie. Each year, the Plein Format association, in partnership with the town and the Savoie Department, invites artists to share their unique perspectives on the town, its people, and its history.
Montmélian Photography Festival — edition 2026
For this 9th edition, which coincides with the bicentenary of photography and the 60th anniversary of the twinning between Montmélian and Höchst im Odenwald, three German photographers—Michael May, Thomas Hackenberg, and Fabian Schreyer—present their unique take on street photography. Parisian photographer Nicolas Portnoi will spend two weeks in the Cœur de Savoie region capturing candid moments, while local Montmélian artist Florence Viretti dedicates a series to the former "George" hotel.

Prices Montmélian Photography Festival 2026
The festival celebrates its 9th edition in 2026. It remains a free, open-air event held in the streets of Montmélian's old town, running from the Esplanade François-Mitterrand to the Musée de la Vigne et du Vin de Savoie.
The 2026 edition highlights the bond with Höchst im Odenwald, a German town twinned with Montmélian for sixty years, featuring works by three German street photographers. The festival also showcases a series on the alphabet created by CE2-CM1 students from the Pillet-Will school, and extends the exhibition year-round at the Le Karnotzet gallery, located at 22 rue du Docteur-Veyrat.
