Celebration of Klevener, a unique wine cultivated exclusively in Heiligenstein
Every second weekend of August, the wine village of Heiligenstein celebrates its most precious treasure: Klevener de Heiligenstein, a rare and elegant white wine from the Savagnin Rose grape, cultivated exclusively on the village's hillsides since 1742. Organized with passion by winemakers and locals, the Fête du Klevener is more than just a wine event: it's an immersion into the wine and cultural heritage of Alsace, an invitation to discovery, taste, and conviviality.
Klevener de Heiligenstein is one of the most fascinating rarities of the Alsatian vineyard. Made from the Savagnin Rose (or Traminer) grape, this white wine with subtle aromas of rose, quince, and sweet spices can only be produced on a few hectares of the hillsides of Heiligenstein and neighboring communes. This grape variety was introduced from Italy in 1742 by a village resident and has never left these lands, making each bottle a true heritage treasure.
The Fête du Klevener takes place over two days, in a warm and friendly atmosphere:
The Heiligenstein terroir is distinguished by its sandstone and marl soils, its southeast exposure, and a particularly favorable microclimate. Unlike more well-known grape varieties like Riesling or Gewurztraminer, Klevener captivates with its confidential character, its aromatic richness, its roundness, and its ability to enhance regional dishes. The festival is the ideal opportunity to meet the artisans who perpetuate this unique wine tradition.
Heiligenstein, a small village of 1,100 inhabitants nestled at the foothills of the Vosges mountains, offers an enchanting setting with its half-timbered houses, its traditional winstubs, and its vineyard trails offering breathtaking panoramas of the Alsace plain.
The Heiligenstein Klevener Festival is expected on the second weekend of August 2026 to celebrate this unique Alsace wine. Tastings, music, and gastronomy will be on the agenda in front of the Town Hall.
The Fête du Klevener returns on August 8th and 9th, 2026 in Heiligenstein. The village winemakers will offer tastings, activities, and food in the friendly atmosphere that makes this event renowned. Detailed program to come.
