About Ida y Vuelta

Ida y Vuelta is the annual free festival of La Casa Musicale in Perpignan. Located on the historic site of the Arsenal (former Carmelite convent, 1 rue Jean Vielledent), each year in June it presents an eclectic program mixing gypsy rumba, world music, hip-hop, electro, soul, jazz, and participatory creations across three stages (Grande Cour, Plaza, Rambla).

Founded in 1996 under the joint impetus of the City of Perpignan and the Ministry of Culture, La Casa Musicale is an open venue dedicated to amateur practices, artistic creation, and contemporary urban culture. The Ida y Vuelta festival — "round trip" in Spanish — embodies this blend: emerging artists from the region (Pyrénées-Orientales and Catalonia), international headliners, and Fabric'a Casa workshops bringing together nearly 700 amateurs each year.

A Perpignan cultural institution since 1996

Located within the historic Arsenal — a former Carmelite convent classified as a historical monument — La Casa Musicale was founded in April 1996 on the initiative of the City of Perpignan and the Ministry of Culture. Thirty years later, it has become one of the pillars of cultural life in the Pyrénées-Orientales: a space for training, creation, and dissemination open all year round, hosting workshops, residencies, concerts, and major popular events.

The Ida y Vuelta festival — the Casa's identity in large format

Born in the late 1990s, Ida y Vuelta is La Casa Musicale's annual free event. Over three days in June, the festival transforms the Arsenal into a village of shared music and cultures, structured around three stages — the Grande Cour, the Plaza, and the Rambla — and a circuit of artistic installations (sculptures made from recycled materials, plant scenography, collective creations).

The program systematically combines international headliners and emerging local artists, with particular attention paid to Catalan rumba, gypsy flamenco, Afro-Latin music, hip-hop, electro, and world music. The Fabric'a Casa workshops, which bring together several hundred amateur practitioners throughout the year (gospel, vocal jazz, batucada, capoeira, flamenco, hip-hop, rumba guitar, percussion, big band…), perform on stage at each edition.

An eco-responsible and inclusive approach

The festival is certified Événement Détonnant level 1 for its eco-responsible commitment and is part of the écho(s) collective, which promotes the organization of sustainable events. Regarding accessibility, Ida y Vuelta offers a PRM (Persons with Reduced Mobility) system, SUBPAC vibrating vests, a noise-cancelling headphone service for children and adults, as well as a listening and prevention system against sexist and sexual violence. An associative village annually hosts prevention and health structures (including CAARUD).

Ida y Vuelta — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Ida y Vuelta takes place from Thursday, June 4 to Saturday, June 6, 2026, at La Casa Musicale in Perpignan, celebrating the structure's 30th anniversary. Three free evenings (6:30 PM - 2 AM) on the Grande Cour, Plaza, and Rambla stages, mixing gypsy rumba, hip-hop, world music, electro, and collective creations.

30th Anniversary Edition — June 4 to 6, 2026

For its 30th anniversary, La Casa Musicale promises "the biggest party ever held": three days of free events centered around immersive scenography (plant installations, sculptures made from recycled materials by BTP trainees with artist Gzilépoc, Lafayette mannequins, floral decor). The Arsenal site opens every evening at 6:30 PM and closes at 2 AM.

Three Evenings, Three Highlights

  • Thursday, June 4 — Block Party. The Grande Cour becomes the global epicenter of breaking, with a 3 vs 3 battle reinvented by Nasty (new bracket format, multiple passes per dancer). Closing DJ set by Shahzen(XXX), mixing Occitan, Maghrebi, and electronic music.
  • Friday, June 5 — Rumba Heritage. An evening dedicated to Catalan rumba and Perpignan's gypsy identity, with Tekameli, Antoine Tato Garcia, Los Rumberos Catalans, Rumba Coumo, and Los Graciosos. Plaza 100% departmental (Trip for Léon, Les Madeleines, Los Raskaï). Rambla: Congolese rumba, rap-punk, and Amazigh rock (Mayanga, Toera, Tiwiza).
  • Saturday, June 6 — Latin Tren & Closing. Maya Kamaty (Reunion), Big Band Casa, Gros Mo & guests on the Grande Cour; Latin Tren and Que Tengo on the Plaza, in the spirit of the Casa's Cuban Soul Train; afro-deep / disco / soul / funk closing with Beatscope Sound System (Manuel Perez) on the Rambla.

Fabric'a Casa & Associative Village

Every evening from 6:30 PM, the Fabric'a Casa workshops (nearly 700 amateur participants) open the evenings: gospel, vocal jazz, batucada, funk, soul, jazz ensemble, capoeira (Thursday); rumba ensemble, rumba guitar, hip-hop choreographies, teen singing, nu-soul rap (Friday); flamenco, guitar, cajón, percussion, big band, "percu a gogo", "boca linda" (Saturday). An associative village hosts local structures, CAARUD prevention, and civic engagement. On-site catering: vegan canteens, Latin cuisine, burgers, crepes, and local drinks.
