Free festival of world music and dance at La Casa Musicale in Perpignan
Since 1998, the Ida y Vuelta festival has taken over La Casa Musicale in Perpignan at the beginning of June for three days of free celebration open to all. Organized by La Casa Musicale, this festival celebrates musical and cultural diversity through concerts, workshops, and shows blending flamenco, jazz, capoeira, hip-hop, gypsy rumba, Latin music, gospel, and batucada. Nearly 700 talented amateur participants perform in participatory workshops, making Ida y Vuelta a popular and unifying event in the heart of the Arsenal district.
Since 1998, Ida y Vuelta has been one of the most anticipated events of early summer in Perpignan. This free festival, organized by La Casa Musicale, transforms the Arsenal district into a vast space for celebration, music, and cultural sharing for three days.
The unique aspect of Ida y Vuelta lies in its participatory dimension. Nearly 700 talented amateur participants gather each year to perform in workshops and shows covering an incredible diversity of styles:
The festival takes place at La Casa Musicale, located at 1 rue Jean Vielledent in the historic Arsenal district of Perpignan. This cultural venue, created in 1996, is a space dedicated to contemporary and world music, offering an eclectic program throughout the year. La Casa Musicale is a concert hall, rehearsal space, and music transmission center.
The festival is committed to an eco-responsible approach, with event certification efforts to reduce its environmental impact. Ida y Vuelta is part of the écho(s) collective, bringing together committed festivals in the Pyrénées-Orientales around environmental issues.
Each edition features an ephemeral monumental artistic installation, built collectively during the festival. These participatory creations, made with recycled materials, symbolize the spirit of sharing and creativity that drives Ida y Vuelta.
