Created in 2022 by the association Musique(s) en Marche (MeM), the summer festival offers concerts in various towns in the department: La Souterraine, Merinchal, Ajain, Felletin, Bussiere-Dunoise, Boussac, and Auzances. Each stop hosts a different band for a friendly jazz evening.
The Summer Festival of Jazz a la Sout was born in 2022 as a summer complement to the renowned autumn festival. Organized by the association Musique(s) en Marche (MeM), it uses a fitted stage truck acquired by the association in 2021 to bring jazz closer to the residents.
For a week in July, the stage truck stops each day in a different town: La Souterraine, Merinchal, Ajain, Felletin, Bussiere-Dunoise, Boussac, and Auzances. Each stop hosts a different band for a friendly, accessible open-air jazz evening.
The summer program focuses on swing, but each band brings its own personality and style. The summer festival contributes to the democratization of jazz in rural areas and offers privileged musical moments in towns often far from traditional cultural circuits.
The 5th edition of the Jazz a la Sout Summer Festival is scheduled for July 2026, with the stage truck touring the towns of Creuse.
