A gourmet weekend in the heart of Tonnerrois
The Journées Gourmandes et Artisanales du Tonnerrois are among the most anticipated festive events of late summer in the Yonne. Organized annually at the end of August on the Pâtis site in Tonnerre, they bring together residents, families, and passing tourists for a lively celebration of Burgundian terroir and artisanal know-how.
Burgundian terroir in the spotlight
Along the stands set up in this vast area on the edge of town, visitors discover a wide selection of local products from the Yonne and Burgundy regions. Among the must-tries:
- Goat cheeses from local Tonnerrois farms
- Artisanal charcuterie and sausages from local producers
- Craft beers brewed in the Yonne
- Honey and apiculture products from the region
- Burgundy wines and crémants, presented by local winemakers
- Jams, pastries, and delicacies made by artisan bakers
Each exhibitor presents the fruit of their daily work, through direct sales that encourage interaction between producers and consumers. The diversity of stands guarantees a complete tasting experience for all audiences.
Local craftsmanship, a living heritage
Beyond gastronomy, the Journées Gourmandes et Artisanales highlight the know-how of artisans from Tonnerrois. Potters, woodturners, jewelers, textile designers, and art craftspeople display their creations on dedicated stands, offering visitors the opportunity to discover unique items and meet their makers.
This artisanal dimension reinforces the authentic character of the event and testifies to the vitality of manual trades in the Tonnerrois region. Direct exchanges with artisans provide an opportunity to learn about the gestures and techniques that enrich the local intangible heritage.
Activities and concerts for the whole family
The program of the Journées Gourmandes et Artisanales is not limited to culinary pleasures and artisanal shopping. Throughout the weekend, musical entertainment enlivens the festive area, with concerts by local bands filling the Pâtis with music. Fairground attractions delight children, while guided tastings allow adults to better understand the specificities of the products offered.
The event also benefits from the presence of the Tonnerre firefighters and other official bodies who participate in the weekend's entertainment, strengthening the popular and unifying nature of these days.
Tonnerre, a Burgundian gem
The town of Tonnerre, with its Saint-Pierre church and its famous 13th-century former Hôtel-Dieu, provides a beautiful historic setting for this festive event. Nestled on the banks of the Burgundy Canal, in a landscape of hills and vineyards, Tonnerre is the heart of a region rich in castles, abbeys, and wine landscapes. The Journées Gourmandes are the ideal opportunity for visitors to discover this little-known town and the Tonnerrois region, between Chablis to the north and Auxerre to the northwest.
