Street theatre and street arts festival in Bléré
Jours de Fête is a street theatre and street arts festival organized every September in Bléré and Athée-sur-Cher, in the Cher valley in Indre-et-Loire. For over twenty years, this popular and free festival has transformed streets, squares, and riverbanks into live performance stages: dance, street theatre, circus, music, street arts, and itinerant performances. Supported by the Communauté de communes Autour de Chenonceaux Bléré-Val de Cher and the association Acteurs de Territoire, Jours de Fête invites the public to reclaim public space in a spirit of conviviality, meeting, and popular celebration.
For over twenty years, the Jours de Fête festival has animated the streets of Bléré and Athée-sur-Cher every September, offering two days of live outdoor performances. This free street theatre and street arts festival, open to all, has become a key cultural event in the Cher valley, attracting family and intergenerational audiences in a spirit of popular celebration and conviviality.
The festival unfolds over two days in two neighboring towns. On Saturday, performances take over the public spaces of Athée-sur-Cher (town hall, community hall, squares), from 4 PM to 8 PM. On Sunday, it's Bléré's turn to host the companies from 2:30 PM to 8 PM, on Place Charles Bidault, along the Cher riverbanks, and in the Hangar.
Jours de Fête's program blends disciplines and artistic forms with the generosity characteristic of street festivals: dance (like the company Oups Dance Company with "Championnes en meute !"), burlesque and quirky street theatre, aerial circus, live music in all its forms (fanfares, street orchestras, world music groups), itinerant performances, and interactive shows. Each edition promises its share of surprises, laughter, and emotions.
True to the spirit of popular festivals, Jours de Fête is entirely free. The festival embodies the philosophy of the "reinvented popular festival," inviting residents to take to the streets, meet each other, and share moments of culture and joy. Free access and its presence in public spaces allow it to reach diverse audiences, including those who do not usually frequent cultural venues.
Supported by the Communauté de communes Autour de Chenonceaux Bléré-Val de Cher and the association Acteurs de Territoire, the festival benefits from strong local roots. Bléré, a small town in the Cher region located halfway between Tours and Chenonceaux, offers a picturesque setting for street arts, with its narrow streets, central square, and riverbanks. The festival contributes to the cultural dynamism and attractiveness of this rural territory.
Each edition is an opportunity to rediscover public spaces from a new perspective, transformed by the magic of live performance into places of meeting, dreams, and sharing.
The 23rd edition of Jours de Fête is expected in September 2026 in Bléré and Athée-sur-Cher. The festival will offer two days of free street theatre, dance, circus, and outdoor music performances.
The Jours de Fête festival will return in September 2026 to Bléré and Athée-sur-Cher for a new free edition of street performances. The program will be announced in the summer of 2026.
