About Guitare en Cher

Open-air guitar festival organized every June on the banks of the Cher in Civray-de-Touraine. Created in 2022, Guitare en Cher brings together guitarists from all walks of life for a day of concerts, master classes, musical workshops, and open stage, all for a symbolic fee of 5 euros. From acoustic to rock, blues to folk, the guitar is celebrated in all its diversity.

Guitare en Cher 2026 — 5th edition on the banks of the Cher

The 5th edition of the Guitare en Cher festival takes place on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 2 PM to midnight, on the communal grounds on the banks of the Cher, rue de l'Écluse in Civray-de-Touraine, near the Château de Chenonceau. The festival offers a full day combining open-air concerts, masterclasses, an open stage, a village of luthier exhibitors, and closing fireworks.

Concerts and headliners

The 2026 program alternates regional acts and national headliners on the main riverside stage, including:

  • The Healing Tree (5 PM – 6 PM) — acoustic folk-rock formation
  • On The Road of Lavilliers (6:20 PM – 7:20 PM) — tribute to the world of Bernard Lavilliers
  • Tryogénic (7:40 PM – 8:40 PM) — energetic covers and compositions in a guitar-rock formation
  • Nina Attal (9 PM – 11 PM) — headliner, electric blues-soul, followed by fireworks on the banks of the Cher

Before the evening concerts, the Municipal Music School of Civray-de-Touraine and partner music schools take to the stage (3 PM, 4:30 PM), alongside a masterclass led by Néo Géo Fanatic / Gérald Moizan at 2 PM. Cat J Swing entertains the village throughout the afternoon.

Open stage, exhibitors, and Broc'MusiK

The festival hosts two open stage slots (2 PM and 4 PM, prior registration required) for amateur guitarists wishing to perform in front of the public. From 2 PM to 8 PM, the exhibitors' village brings together luthiers, string manufacturers, plectrums, and guitar-related activities. The Broc'MusiK, a musical flea market (instruments, equipment, records), is open from 12 PM to 8 PM.

A family day on the banks of the Cher

Designed as an event accessible to all ages, Guitare en Cher takes place outdoors in a bucolic setting by the river. Food and drink available on site, free parking nearby, camping facilities for festival-goers from afar. The entrance fee remains voluntarily low, at 7 €, with free admission for those under 18.

Guitare en Cher in Civray-de-Touraine

Guitare en Cher is a festival dedicated to the guitar held annually in June on the banks of the Cher, in Civray-de-Touraine, Indre-et-Loire. Created in 2022 by three passionate local elected officials – Gérald Moizan, Florian Le Squer, and Sylvain Thuissard – this human-sized festival celebrates the guitar in all its forms in an enchanting natural setting, near the Château de Chenonceau.

A Day Dedicated to the Guitar

The festival takes place over an entire day, from noon to midnight, offering a rich and varied program:

  • Open-air concerts: several bands and solo artists perform on stage, from blues to rock, folk, Celtic, and French chanson.
  • Master classes: experienced guitarists share their expertise with participants.
  • Music discovery workshops: in partnership with local music schools, workshops are offered for children and beginners.
  • Open stage: an open stage allows amateur guitarists to perform in front of the audience.
  • Instrument swap meet: a musical flea market to find used guitars and accessories.
  • Fireworks display: the day concludes with a pyrotechnic show.

The 2025 edition notably featured Ady One Woman Band, Tito Nabat, Calibre 12, Gérald Moizan, Gleanntan, and a finale featuring Norbert Krief, Gérald Moizan, and Yannick Bouvet.
