The first French convention dedicated to hip-hop and urban cultures
Created in 2021 by La Place, a hip-hop cultural institution of the City of Paris, the L2P Convention is the first French professional convention entirely dedicated to hip-hop culture and urban cultures. Every year in March, for four days, this unifying event brings together artists, experts, journalists, entrepreneurs, and passionate audiences for conferences, round tables, masterclasses, exhibitions, and concerts, with a common goal: to analyze the transformations of hip-hop, share experiences, and decode the trends that shape our cultures.
Born in 2021 at La Place — a cultural venue dedicated to hip-hop located in the heart of the Forum des Halles in Paris —, the L2P Convention has established itself in a few editions as the essential meeting point for professionals and enthusiasts of hip-hop culture in France. As the first French convention of its kind, it embraces all disciplines and aesthetics of the movement: dance (breaking, popping, locking, house, krump), music (rap, beatmaking, DJing), visual arts (graffiti, street art), urban fashion, and cultural entrepreneurship.
The ambition of the L2P Convention is to create a major moment where hip-hop stakeholders gather to exchange, network, and collectively think about the artistic, cultural, and economic issues of the movement. Previous editions have addressed themes as varied as breaking at the Olympic Games, the rap economy, the mutations of DJing, hip-hop and visual arts, or cultural entrepreneurship in urban cultures.
Inaugurated in 2016 within the Canopée des Halles, La Place is the first cultural institution in France entirely dedicated to hip-hop. Commissioned by the City of Paris, it offers over 1,400 m² of dance studios, a recording studio, a performance hall, and exhibition spaces. La Place is a place for practice, creation, dissemination, and training, welcoming tens of thousands of visitors and practitioners each year.
It is within this unique ecosystem that the L2P Convention draws its energy and legitimacy, relying on the network of artists, structures, and partners that La Place unites throughout the year.
While La Place remains the heart of the convention, the event has gradually expanded to other Parisian cultural venues: the Forum des Images, FGO-Barbara, the Gaîté Lyrique, Freestyle Villette, the Point Fort d'Aubervilliers, MANSA, and the Médiathèque de la Canopée. This multi-site presence allows the convention to reach diverse audiences and build connections between the various cultural players in the Parisian metropolitan area.
For four days, the L2P Convention offers a dense program structured around several formats: conferences and round tables with renowned experts and artists, masterclasses in dance and music, showcases and concerts featuring the new hip-hop scene, exhibitions of visual arts and photography, and screenings of films and documentaries on urban culture. Admission is mostly free, in line with La Place's philosophy of openness and accessibility.
The 6th edition of the L2P Convention will be held from March 11 to 14, 2026, at La Place and in several partner cultural venues in Paris: Forum des Images, FGO-Barbara, Gaîté Lyrique, Freestyle Villette, Point Fort d'Aubervilliers, MANSA, and Médiathèque de la Canopée.
