Open-air rock festival on the heights of Nordheim with a view of Strasbourg
Born in 2014 from the passion of a group of volunteers who love rock and Alsace, La Grange Rock quickly established itself as a must-attend event on the rock scene in the Bas-Rhin region. The festival takes its name from its unique setting: a barn and its surroundings, perched on the heights of Nordheim, offering a breathtaking view of the Alsace plain and the silhouette of the Strasbourg Cathedral in the distance.
Over two to three days, La Grange Rock hosts about ten bands and artists, mainly from the rock, blues, and alternative rock scene. The program features emerging regional and national bands, as well as confirmed headliners. Sunday is traditionally dedicated to musical burlesque shows and activities for young audiences, making the festival a family event.
What sets La Grange Rock apart from other festivals is its deep connection to the Alsatian terroir. The organizers make it a point of honor to offer craft beers brewed locally, flammekueches, regional specialties, and products from local producers. The atmosphere is resolutely friendly and human-sized, far from impersonal mega-festivals. Festival-goers share authentic moments in a bucolic setting, between vineyards and hills.
The festival site, located in the heart of nature on the slopes of Nordheim, is an ideal setting for an open-air event. The sunsets over the Alsace plain offer a natural spectacle that accompanies the evening concerts. The village of Nordheim, located about twenty kilometers northwest of Strasbourg on the Alsace Wine Route, is surrounded by renowned vineyards, adding to the charm of this rural festival.
Entirely organized by a team of volunteers from the village and surrounding areas, La Grange Rock embodies the Alsatian associative spirit. The festival took a break in 2023, but organizers are working on its return, as it has successfully built a loyal following of rock and good-times enthusiasts.
