Eco-music festival at the foot of the Castelnau-de-Lévis castle, facing the episcopal city of Albi
Born in 2022 from the initiative of young football and music enthusiasts united within the Football Club de Castelnau-de-Lévis, La Tour à l'Envers is an eco-festival that takes its name from the 40-meter tower of the medieval castle, a classified historic monument. Every year in June, at the foot of this emblematic tower facing the episcopal city of Albi, the festival offers world music, rock, reggae, and variety concerts in an exceptional setting, with an eco-responsible approach favoring local players for catering and services. The intergenerational atmosphere and accessible prices make it an event open to all.
The story of La Tour à l'Envers begins with a shared dream: that of a group of young footballers from Castelnau-de-Lévis who wanted to create a music festival at the foot of the medieval castle in their village. In 2022, this dream became a reality with the creation of the La Tour à l'Envers association and the first edition of the festival, which immediately met with popular success.
The festival takes place at the foot of the Castelnau-de-Lévis castle, a medieval fortress whose 40-meter tower, a classified historic monument, overlooks the Tarn valley and offers a spectacular panorama of the episcopal city of Albi, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The festival's name refers to this emblematic tower, seen "upside down" from the bottom of the village. This exceptional heritage setting gives the concerts a unique atmosphere, between ancient stones and starry sky.
La Tour à l'Envers champions a strong ecological ethic. The festival favors local players for catering and services, promotes short supply chains, and minimizes its environmental footprint. This eco-responsible approach is part of a desire to bring the village to life while respecting its natural and architectural heritage.
The programming of La Tour à l'Envers features a wide range of world music, rock, reggae, and festive sounds. The festival has hosted internationally renowned artists such as Manu Chao, Mouss et Hakim (formerly Zebda), El Gato Negro Tropical, and Barcelona-based groups like Rumbakana and Alma de Boqueron. The children's area and the intergenerational dimension, supported by volunteers of all ages, make this festival a unique moment of sharing between generations.
The 5th edition of La Tour à l'Envers will take place on June 6th and 7th, 2026, at the Castelnau-de-Lévis castle. An open-air eco-music festival with a view of Albi, featuring concerts, local food, and a family atmosphere. Programming to be announced.
The La Tour à l'Envers festival returns for its 5th edition on June 6th and 7th, 2026, at the foot of the Castelnau-de-Lévis castle. The eco-festival will continue its musical adventure with an exceptional view of the episcopal city of Albi, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
