La Tour à l'Envers: A festival born from passion
The story of La Tour à l'Envers begins with a shared dream: that of a group of young footballers from Castelnau-de-Lévis who wanted to create a music festival at the foot of their village's medieval castle. After the health crisis, these enthusiasts created an event to come together in a festive and warm moment that would also support their football club. In 2022, this dream became a reality with the creation of the La Tour à l'Envers association and the first edition of the festival, which immediately met with popular success.
An exceptional setting: the Château de Castelnau-de-Lévis
The festival takes place at the foot of the Château de Castelnau-de-Lévis, a medieval fortress whose 40-meter tower, classified as a historical monument, dominates the Tarn valley and offers a spectacular panorama of the episcopal city of Albi, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The festival's name refers to this emblematic tower, seen «upside down» from the bottom of the village. This exceptional heritage setting gives the concerts a unique atmosphere, between ancient stones and a starry sky.
A committed eco-festival
La Tour à l'Envers champions a strong ecological ethic. The festival prioritizes local actors for catering and services, promotes short supply chains, and minimizes its environmental footprint. This eco-responsible approach is part of a desire to bring life to the village while respecting its natural and architectural heritage.
World music and intergenerational conviviality
The programming of La Tour à l'Envers gives pride of place to world music, reggae, dub, cumbia, ska, and Latin sounds. Over the editions, the festival has welcomed internationally renowned artists such as Manu Chao, Mouss et Hakim (ex-Zebda), El Gato Negro Tropical, Les Frangins (Darons de la Garonne), as well as groups from the Barcelona scene like Rumbakana and Alma de Boqueron. The children's area and the intergenerational dimension, supported by volunteers of all ages, make this festival a unique moment of sharing between generations.
