The meeting point for musical discoveries
Since 2015, Les Primeurs de Castres has established itself as an essential event for curious music lovers in the south of Tarn. Supported by Lo Bolegason, a contemporary music venue labeled by the Ministry of Culture and a cultural facility of the Castres-Mazamet agglomeration community, this autumn festival is exclusively dedicated to artists releasing their first album during the year.
A unique concept: first albums in the spotlight
The principle of Les Primeurs is as simple as it is radical: each edition features twelve artists releasing their first record during the current year. This editorial choice makes it a true discovery laboratory, where the public can witness the emergence of talents before they fill large venues. Pop, rock, electro, French chanson, hip-hop, world music, folk: all styles are represented, offering a comprehensive panorama of contemporary musical creation.
The program is spread over three evenings, with four artists per evening, in a format that promotes proximity between artists and spectators. Each concert is an invitation to discover, without a safety net or preconceived notions.
Lo Bolegason, the cultural engine of southern Tarn
Located at Passage Claude Nougaro in Castres, Lo Bolegason is much more than just a concert hall. This SMAC (Scène de Musiques Actuelles - Contemporary Music Venue) has a 525-seat hall, four rehearsal studios, and a bar-welcome area. Throughout the year, it organizes concerts, artistic residencies, cultural mediation activities, and support for the local scene. Les Primeurs de Castres is part of this mission of exploration and support for emerging creation.
A springboard for tomorrow's artists
Over the years, Les Primeurs de Castres has revealed artists who have subsequently achieved national and international recognition. The festival participates in a wider network of events dedicated to first albums, in conjunction with Les Primeurs de Massy in Île-de-France, sharing the same philosophy of highlighting emerging talent. For the Tarn audience, it is a unique opportunity to experience concerts by the artists who will be making tomorrow's musical news, in advance.
