About Scènes Croisées
Scènes Croisées — edition 2026
The 2026-2027 season of Scènes Croisées de Lozère kicks off on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Domaine départemental de Boissets in Sainte-Énimie. The opening features the circus-concert Newroz by Cie La Meute, a culinary performance by Sara Harakat, and the show Trois contes et quelques by Groupe Merci. As a fully nomadic organization, the program then unfolds across theaters, village halls, schools, open-air venues nestled in the Lozère landscape, and even underground, spanning theater, dance, circus, music, youth creations, and participatory projects. Two major regional projects highlight the year: La Veillée in the heart of winter in Villefort and Sur les chemins in the spring in the Vallée Longue, in the Cévennes.
2026-2027 Season
Scènes Croisées de Lozère launches its 2026-2027 season on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Domaine départemental de Boissets in Sainte-Énimie. From 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the opening day features a circus-concert, an open-air culinary performance, and a theater show, interspersed with opportunities to meet the team and discover the year's program.
A fully nomadic season
True to its mission as a nationally recognized "art in the territory" venue, the organization has no fixed home: the season takes place in theaters and village halls throughout the department, in schools, outdoors in the heart of the Lozère landscape, and even underground—the "Concert sous roche" event is held in the Aven Armand cave on the Causse Méjean. The program includes theater, dance, circus, music, youth creations, and participatory projects.
Two regional projects
The season is highlighted by two major regional projects: La Veillée, held in the depths of winter in Villefort, and Sur les chemins, taking place in the spring in the Vallée Longue, in the Cévennes.
Season previews across Lozère
Before and after the opening, Scènes Croisées will host free, open-to-all season previews at various locations across the department to explore the new program together: September 4 in Sainte-Énimie, followed by "bespoke" sessions on September 18 at La Loco-Motive 48 in Villefort, September 25 at Le Relais de l'Espinas in Ventalon-en-Cévennes, and September 26 at the Langogne community hall.

A unique cultural adventure in a rural territory
Scènes Croisées de Lozère was born in September 2000, an extension of an artistic and cultural adventure led since 1979 within an ADDA (Departmental Association for the Development of Arts). In 2004, the ADDA and Scènes Croisées merged to give birth to the current structure, renamed Scènes Croisées de Lozère in 2011. Today, labeled a national conventioned stage of interest "art in territory", it develops an original artistic and cultural project throughout the least populated department in France.
A traveling and multidisciplinary program
The peculiarity of Scènes Croisées lies in its lack of a fixed venue. The program is traveling: shows move to village halls, village squares, theaters, and natural spaces in Lozère, meeting the inhabitants where they live. The cultural season covers a wide artistic spectrum:
- Theater and contemporary forms
- Music in all its styles
- Contemporary and traditional dance
- Circus and street arts
- Puppets and animated forms
- Spoken word, storytelling, and reading
Season opening, an annual highlight
Each year in September, the season opening is a festive and friendly event that launches the new program. In 2025, it was held in Saint-Julien-du-Tournel, offering shows, sensory tours, outdoor culinary performances, a literary ball, and meetings with the Scènes Croisées team. This annual event sets the tone for a season rich in discoveries, emotions, and exchanges.
Support for creation and artistic residencies
Beyond dissemination, Scènes Croisées actively supports contemporary creation through artistic residencies hosted throughout the department. Companies hosted in residence benefit from privileged working conditions and immersion in the Lozère territory, a source of inspiration for site-specific "arts and landscapes" creations.
Figures that speak for themselves
With approximately 130 annual performances, 12,000 spectators, and 500 artists mobilized each season, Scènes Croisées de Lozère is a key cultural player in the department. The structure is supported by the DRAC Occitanie (Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs), the Occitanie Regional Council, the Department of Lozère, and the European Regional Development Fund.
