An essential literary event in Lozère

Since 2013, the M'Lire Book Fair has become an unmissable annual event for book lovers in Lozère. Organized by the Lamartine Municipal Library in partnership with the association of Friends of the Library, this event brings together authors, illustrators, publishers, and local booksellers every year in the friendly setting of the Halle Saint-Jean in Mende.

A literary week full of discoveries

The fair is preceded by a literary week during which invited authors and illustrators visit Mende's primary schools. Writing workshops, literary encounters, readings, and thematic exhibitions punctuate these days of sharing around books and literary creation.

Renewed themes each year

Each edition of the M'Lire Fair revolves around an original theme. In 2024, the 12th edition explored the theme 'Literature and Games'. In 2025, the 13th edition will highlight the garden, with exhibitions such as 'Taking Root, Men and Plants in Exile' and 'Eggplant, Snake, Sorrow', as well as seed exchanges with gardening associations.

The day of the fair

On the day of the fair, the Halle Saint-Jean transforms into a true book village. From 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, the public can browse the stands of booksellers and publishers, meet the invited authors, and have their books signed. Activities for children and adults are offered throughout the day, as well as a free prize draw organized by the Friends of the Lamartine Library.

An event open to all

True to its mission of promoting reading, the M'Lire Fair is entirely free and open to all audiences. This accessibility makes the fair a special moment of connection between authors and their readers, in a warm and family-friendly atmosphere in the heart of the Lozère capital.
