The autumn anti-depressant in the Tarn
Saint-Sulpice de Rire is much more than just a festival: it's a humor tour that crisscrosses the Tarn department every autumn, bringing laughter and good cheer to large and small towns alike. Born in Saint-Sulpice-la-Pointe, this traveling festival has won over an ever-wider audience by offering an eclectic program combining stand-up, comedy theater, one-man shows, and company performances.
The unique feature of Saint-Sulpice de Rire lies in its traveling format, which allows it to reach diverse audiences throughout the Tarn. The shows are held in cultural venues, theaters, and community spaces in towns such as Albi, Saint-Juéry, Le Garric, Montauban, and Saint-Sulpice-la-Pointe. This mobility is a strength: it brings humor and culture closer to residents who do not necessarily have access to major cultural metropolises.
Each edition brings together artists from the French comedy scene, from established stars to new stand-up talents. The 2025 program perfectly illustrates this diversity: Roberta Cecchin with her Franco-Italian intercultural journey, Amandine Lourdel and her show “Renversée,” Régis Mailhot and “Les Nouveaux Ridicules,” theatrical comedies like “Le Syndrome d'Hercule” or “Le Bal des Couillons.” The festival alternates formats: solo shows, company performances, pure stand-up, narrative comedy, sketches — something to satisfy all humor enthusiasts.
The festival also includes Comedy Club nights, allowing new talents from the comedy scene to be discovered. These less formal evenings offer a club atmosphere where humor is experienced more spontaneously and intimately. It is also an opportunity for young artists from Tarn or the region to perform in front of a supportive audience.
To ensure accessibility for the greatest number, Saint-Sulpice de Rire has developed an extensive distribution network: tickets are available online via France-Billet, FNAC, Ticketmaster, but also in hypermarkets (Auchan, Leclerc, Carrefour) and cultural stores (Cultura). This pragmatic approach reflects the festival's desire to appeal to all audiences, without barriers to entry.
Beyond the performance, Saint-Sulpice de Rire plays a strong role in social connection in a region where rural communities can sometimes feel culturally isolated. Laughter is universal, unifying, and the festival makes it its banner: “What a joy to make you laugh!” proclaims the official website, and all of Tarn vibrates with this promise every autumn. With its slogan of “autumn anti-depressant,” the festival fully embraces its mission: to bring joy and lightness as the days grow shorter.
Saint-Sulpice de Rire returns in autumn 2026 for a new edition of its itinerant comedy festival in the Tarn, from October 23 to November 8, 2026. True to its slogan of 'autumn antidepressant', the festival travels through the department's cultural venues (Le Garric, Gaillac, Saint-Sulpice-la-Pointe, Saïx, Mazamet, Técou, Beauvais-sur-Tescou…) with stand-up, comic theatre, comedies, Comedy Club evenings and a comedy competition dedicated to new talents. Headliners 2026: Alex Vizorek, Arnaud Demanche, Roman Doduik, La Tragédie du Dossard 512 and more than 50 artists.
From October 23 to November 8, 2026, the itinerant festival Saint-Sulpice de Rire offers a new season of comedy shows in the communes of the Tarn. Stand-up, comic theatre, one-man-shows, comedies and Comedy Club evenings follow one another in the cultural venues of the region, with more than 50 artists on the program.
The 2026 edition brings together established artists from the French comedy scene — Alex Vizorek, Arnaud Demanche, Roman Doduik (social media sensation) — alongside shows such as « La Tragédie du Dossard 512 », « Moustache » or the comedies « Faites l'Amour pas des Gosses ! » and « Ados en Vacances, Parents en Souffrance ». The itinerant concept « Boudu Rire — La Tournée » stops in several communes in a club format, and the festival once again hosts its comedy competition, whose final highlights new talents on November 7.
With its itinerant format, Saint-Sulpice de Rire brings comedy culture closer to the inhabitants of large and small communes in the Tarn. Beyond the shows, the edition offers complementary highlights ('After du rire', free shows, inclusion day open to all audiences) to make laughter a true social link at the departmental level.
The Saint-Sulpice de Rire festival is traveling throughout the Tarn department (81). The shows are held in various cultural venues in the towns of Tarn, notably in Saint-Sulpice-la-Pointe, Albi, Saint-Juéry (Théâtre de la Gare), and Le Garric.
Prices vary depending on the shows. Tickets are available online and at partner points of sale.
