Gourmet hiking through the wine terroirs of the Kaysersberg Valley
Born in 2023 for the 70th anniversary of the Alsace Wine Route, the Tournée des Terroirs — "Alsace Rocks!" — is a traveling event that sets up its ephemeral bar in the heart of an exceptional wine terroir every Sunday in summer. In the Kaysersberg Valley, the stops follow one another from village to village — Katzenthal, Kientzheim, Sigolsheim, Kaysersberg — to introduce the public to the Grands Crus and terroir wines of this prestigious vineyard, ranked among the most beautiful landscapes in Alsace.
Each stop offers a rich program of educational and sensory workshops led by the winegrowers themselves. Masterclasses with guided tastings by renowned sommeliers, bike rides through the vineyard terraces, Qi Gong sessions in the plots, guided tours combining art, history, and terroirs: the activities invite an immersive discovery of the Alsatian vineyard. The workshops, by reservation, are led by passionate professionals who generously share their know-how.
The beating heart of each stop is the ephemeral bar, where a selection of Alsace AOP Grands Crus and terroir wines are served directly by the participating winegrowers. Among the estates present in the Kaysersberg Valley are prestigious names such as Domaine Weinbach, Paul Blanck, Albert Mann, Bestheim, and many others. It's a rare opportunity to taste exceptional vintages in their natural setting, facing the vines that produced them.
The atmosphere is resolutely convivial and relaxed. DJ sets accompany the day in a chill & lounge area set up with deckchairs and benches. For catering, food trucks and local restaurateurs — including renowned establishments like Le Chambard by Olivier Nasti — offer quality light meals based on local products. A wooden games area welcomes children while parents enjoy the tastings.
La Tournée des Terroirs is designed as a 100% sustainable event: electricity powered by solar panels, recycled materials, exclusively local service providers, and short supply chains. This eco-responsible approach reflects the commitment of Alsatian winegrowers to environmentally friendly viticulture and sustainable tourism on the Wine Route.
The Kaysersberg Valley, whose imperial city was elected France's Favorite Village in 2017, is home to some of the greatest terroirs in Alsace. The Grand Cru Schlossberg, the first Grand Cru recognized in Alsace in 1975, and the Grand Cru Wineck-Schlossberg in Katzenthal produce world-renowned Rieslings. La Tournée des Terroirs offers a unique opportunity to discover them in situ, in a setting combining medieval heritage, magnificent vineyard landscapes, and the Alsatian art of living.
In 2026, the Tournée des Terroirs des Vins d'Alsace makes a stop in the Kaysersberg valley on Sunday, May 31 in Ammerschwihr, at the foot of the Grand Cru Kaefferkopf. An ephemeral wine bar run by winemakers, tasting workshops, walks in the vineyards, DJ sets, local catering and wooden games: a festive and eco-responsible day in the heart of the Alsatian Grands Crus, from 10 am to 7 pm.
For its 4th edition, the Tournée des Terroirs des Vins d'Alsace begins its journey on Sunday, May 31, 2026 in Ammerschwihr, the first of eight 2026 stops on the Alsace Wine Route. Ammerschwihr, in the heart of the Kaysersberg valley, hosts the event at the locality Rumerstahl, at the foot of the Grand Cru Kaefferkopf.
From 10 am to 7 pm, the winemakers of Ammerschwihr and the valley set up their ephemeral wine bar in the vineyards: Domaine Geschickt, J.B. Adam, Simonis, Domaine Schoech, Domaine Théo Meyer, Sick-Dreyer, Tempe-Jessel and Vins Schiele offer tastings of Grands Crus, terroir wines and aged vintages, with a particular focus on the Kaefferkopf and its different decades.
The format combines free tastings at the ephemeral bar, thematic workshops led by winemakers (by reservation), guided walks in the vineyard, a historical presentation of Ammerschwihr winemakers through the centuries, exhibitions and musical entertainment with DJ sets. Catering is provided by the four partner restaurants of Ammerschwihr on site, and the area offers wooden games and family entertainment.
Access is by foot only (parking lots located less than 200 m away in the village). Leashed animals are allowed.
