La Voix du Rock: The rock spirit at the foot of the Abbaye de Valence

Founded in 2016 by the association Vox Populi, the La Voix du Rock festival perpetuates a musical tradition rooted in Couhé since the 1990s. After an initial series of editions that animated the town until 2000, a new team of enthusiasts revived the adventure by taking over the exceptional site of the Abbaye de Valence, a heritage gem in the south of Vienne. This idyllic setting, between centuries-old stones and greenery, gives the festival a unique atmosphere, halfway between rock fervor and rural serenity.

An eclectic and intergenerational lineup

La Voix du Rock stands out for its bold programming that embraces all facets of rock, from punk to metal, from celtic rock to festive chanson. Over the years, the festival has hosted iconic artists from the French and international scene: Ultra Vomit, Tagada Jones, Burning Heads, Silmarils, Soldat Louis, Boulevard des Airs, Dagoba, Elmer Food Beat, La Phaze, Cancer Bats, Sidilarsen, and Celkilt. Each edition also reserves a prime spot for local bands and talent contests, allowing emerging artists to shine before a captivated audience.

A human-sized festival focused on conviviality

With controlled capacity, La Voix du Rock offers what large festivals can no longer provide: authentic proximity between artists and the public. Families, regulars, and newcomers mingle in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. On-site, varied catering, a bar, merchandise, and bracelet payment ensure the comfort of festival-goers. Access to the site is easy from the N10 (exit 39), making Couhé an ideal crossroads between Poitiers, Niort, and Angoulême.

Strong territorial roots

Supported by the association Vox Populi, created under the 1901 law to promote heritage and culture in rural areas, La Voix du Rock is more than just a musical event. It is a true cultural and economic driver for the territory of Valence-en-Poitou and the entire southern Vienne region. Volunteers, local partners, and local authorities unite each year to bring this human and musical adventure to life, contributing to the town's influence far beyond its departmental borders.
