The springboard for French-language song in Tarbes
Since 1985, Tarbes has hosted a competition dedicated to French-language song. Initially named "Festival de la Chanson Francophone", the event took the name Pic d'Or in 1997 and established itself as a major springboard for new talents in French song.
Le Pic d'Or takes place over two days at the Théâtre Municipal les Nouveautés. The first day is dedicated to auditions open to the public and free of charge, followed by a semi-final in the evening. The second day, the final brings together the best candidates before a jury of music professionals, under the patronage of a recognized artist.
Supported by SACEM (Society of Authors, Composers and Music Publishers), Le Pic d'Or has become over the years an essential showcase for emerging artists. The competition is open to all musical styles, provided that the lyrics are in French.
Many winners of Le Pic d'Or have gone on to have remarkable careers in the French song world, confirming the talent-scouting role played by this competition for nearly forty years.
Le Pic d'Or returns in May 2026 at the Théâtre les Nouveautés for a new edition of the French-language song competition.
