Le Vilain Festival

Le Vilain Festival is a music and street arts festival held in Sainte-Anne-sur-Vilaine, in Ille-et-Vilaine (Brittany). Organized by the Bizh Art n'Co association, which works for cultural development in rural areas and access to culture for everyone, it traditionally takes place on the third weekend of September, in the park and under a large big top in the heart of the village.

A Pay-What-You-Can Festival

Le Vilain Festival operates on the principle of pay-what-you-can pricing: everyone gives at the entrance according to their means. The eclectic program combines contemporary music (rock, reggae, funk, punk, electro) and street arts (circus, theatre, performances), highlighting the local scene and emerging companies from the region.

History

After two editions organized in Sainte-Anne-sur-Vilaine in 2017 and 2018 under the name « Son des fermages », the event was reborn in 2021 under the name of Vilain Festival. The 5th edition was held on September 20, 2025.
