Les Légendaires de Mormal is a multi-era festival held every summer in Locquignol, in the heart of the Mormal forest, the largest forest in the North of France. Organized by the association Les Gens de Mormal, this family-friendly festival blends medieval and fantasy in an enchanting natural setting. For two days, over 70 artisans, historical encampments, equestrian shows, street theater, and an immersive tavern transport visitors into a world of adventure and legends, culminating in a pyrotechnic show.

Les Légendaires de Mormal: A Magical Forest Festival
Every summer, the village of Locquignol transforms into an open-air theater in the heart of the Mormal forest, the largest forest massif in Northern France. The Légendaires de Mormal, organized by the association Les Gens de Mormal, offers a unique multi-era festival that blends the worlds of medieval and fantasy in an exceptional natural setting.
A Craft Market with Over 70 Artisans
The heart of the festival is a vast craft market bringing together over 70 artisans from all over France: blacksmiths, potters, jewelers, leather and wood workers, textile artisans, creators of fantasy and medieval objects. Visitors can discover traditional know-how and leave with unique pieces.
Shows and Activities for the Whole Family
The Légendaires program is remarkably rich: equestrian shows and jousting tournaments, street theater and performing arts, magical aquatic parades along forest rivers, fantasy and historical encampments with living history reenactments, medieval and folk dances and concerts, old-fashioned games, and fun activities for children.
The 100% Avesnois Immersive Tavern
One of the festival's main attractions is the immersive tavern, entirely dedicated to local products from the Avesnois region. Visitors can taste regional specialties in a medieval and friendly atmosphere, surrounded by costumed characters.
A Breathtaking Night Show
On Saturday evening, the festival offers its most spectacular moment: La Légende d'Ava, a 60-minute show blending fire, magic, and piracy, culminating in a grand pyrotechnic finale. This night show, accessible for free from 8 PM, is the highlight of the festivities.

Festival Access
By Car
Locquignol is located in the heart of the Mormal forest, about 15 km southeast of Le Quesnoy and 20 km from Maubeuge. From Lille, allow about 1 hour 15 minutes via the A2 (Le Quesnoy exit) then the D934. From Valenciennes, about 30 minutes via the D934. Free parking is available near the festival site with signage. Limited spaces, arrive early.
By Train
The nearest stations are Aulnoye-Aymeries (15 km) and Maubeuge (20 km), served by TER Hauts-de-France from Lille (1 hour) and Valenciennes (20 minutes). You will need to arrange your own transportation from the station (no direct bus link). Carpooling is recommended.

- Sunday: 10 AM to 7 PM
Prices
Daytime admission is paid (prices available on the official website). Reduced rates for children aged 4 to 12. Free for children under 4. Saturday night show: free admission from 8 PM.
