Les Magnytudes: The Music Festival in Magny-le-Hongre
Created in 2016 by the municipality of Magny-le-Hongre, the Les Magnytudes festival was born from the desire to offer residents and visitors a free musical event, open to all, in this town of 9,000 inhabitants nestled east of Paris, on the edge of the Marne-la-Vallée complex. The festival's name, a play on words between "Magny" and "magnitude," evokes the festive shockwave that shakes this peaceful Brie village every year.
A Free and Eclectic Festival
The Place de l'Église, the historic heart of the village, hosts the festival's main stage. Over two June evenings, bands with diverse aesthetics perform for a family and intergenerational audience. The programming ranges from rock, funk, hip-hop, electro, folk, soul, Balkan music, and variety, with a particular focus on discovering original and festive bands.
Among the artists who have graced the Magnytudes stage over the years are cumbia groups, street brass bands, DJ sets, reggae bands, and variety orchestras. This musical diversity is the festival's hallmark, fully embracing its popular and festive character.
A Village in Celebration
Beyond the music, Les Magnytudes transforms the town center into a true festive village. Activities for children and teenagers — trampolines, inflatable games, music discovery workshops — keep the younger ones entertained while parents enjoy the concerts. Food trucks and outdoor bars offer food and refreshments, creating a summery guinguette atmosphere.
Nine Editions and Constant Growth
Since its creation in 2016, the festival has had seven consecutive editions until 2019, a forced break in 2020 and 2021 due to the health crisis, followed by an enthusiastically welcomed return in 2022. Attendance has steadily grown, from a few hundred spectators in the early editions to around 5,000 festival-goers in recent editions. This progression reflects the festival's integration into local cultural life and its growing influence in neighboring towns and among visitors to Val d'Europe.
Near Disneyland Paris
Magny-le-Hongre's location, just minutes from Disneyland Paris park and the Val d'Europe shopping center, gives the festival an original positioning. Les Magnytudes offers an authentic and local cultural alternative to passing visitors, allowing them to experience the convivial village life of Seine-et-Marne.
