Les Musicades: An Exceptional Music Festival in Romans-sur-Isère
Since 2016, the Les Musicades festival — or Les Musicades Romanesques — has established itself as a premier musical event in Romans-sur-Isère. Under the artistic direction of cellist Astrig Siranossian, this festival offers an ambitious and eclectic program every August, blending classical music, jazz, world music, opera, and original creations.
A Demanding Yet Accessible Program
Les Musicades stands out for the quality and diversity of its programming. Each edition brings together renowned national and international artists: symphony orchestra, virtuoso soloists, legendary jazzmen, organists, guitarists, and emerging artists. Among the names that have marked the festival: André Manoukian, Jean-François Zygel, the Orchestre Symphonique Victor Hugo, Emmanuel Rossfelder, Baptiste-Florian Marle-Ouvrard, the Garde Républicaine, and many others. Each evening is an invitation to a musical journey.
Exceptional Heritage Venues
The festival takes place in the most beautiful heritage sites of Romans-sur-Isère. Concerts are held in the Jardins du Musée de la Chaussure, offering an enchanting open-air setting for summer evenings, at the Collégiale Saint-Barnard for organ and sacred music concerts, and at the Cité de la Musique for indoor performances. In case of rain, the Salle des Cordeliers welcomes the audience. These exceptional venues give Les Musicades a unique atmosphere.
Music, Literature, and Gastronomy
Les Musicades are not limited to music: the festival cultivates a spirit of meeting between the arts, combining music, literature, and gastronomy. Musical readings, narrated stories accompanied by music, and convivial moments around local gastronomy enrich the program. This multidisciplinary approach, both demanding and warm, makes Les Musicades a festival to be experienced with all senses.
Strong Local Roots
Supported by the association Les Musicades Romanesques and the City of Romans-sur-Isère, Les Musicades contribute to the cultural influence of the city and the Drôme region. The festival is part of the Escales Estivales de Romans, a summer cultural program that animates the city throughout the summer. In just a few editions, Les Musicades have become an anticipated event for music lovers throughout the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
