Classical and Baroque Music Festival on the Ardèche and Loire Plateau
Musiques en Vivarais-Lignon is a classical and baroque music festival that unfolds every summer for two weeks on the Vivarais-Lignon plateau, straddling Ardèche and Haute-Loire. Since its creation in 2002, the festival has offered concerts of great artistic quality in the plateau's villages, combining musical discovery with the beauty of the mid-mountain landscapes.
One of the unique aspects of Musiques en Vivarais-Lignon lies in its choice of concert venues. The churches, temples, and village halls of the plateau's villages — Saint-Agrève, Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, Le Mazet-Saint-Voy, Tence — become settings for classical and baroque music. These historic buildings, with their remarkable acoustics, offer an intimate and authentic atmosphere that distinguishes the festival from large urban music events.
The programming of Musiques en Vivarais-Lignon combines international soloists and renowned ensembles with emerging young talents. Evening concerts, held in the main villages of the plateau, feature prestigious groups, while the "An Hour With" concerts, offered in smaller villages, allow for the discovery of young artists in an intimate encounter format.
The 24th edition of the festival took place from August 15 to 27, 2025. Highlights included a performance by the Ensemble Double Face at the Saint-Agrève church on August 20, the ensemble L'Hostel-Dieu and Camera delle Lacrime performing the Stabat Mater at the Le Chambon-sur-Lignon church on August 23, and the Orchestre National d'Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes closing the festival at the Tence church on August 27 with a grand symphonic finale.
Musiques en Vivarais-Lignon is organized by the Communauté de Communes du Haut-Lignon in partnership with the Communauté de Communes Val'Eyrieux. This inter-municipal cooperation allows the festival to reach across the entire plateau, bringing live music to the villages and contributing to the tourist and cultural appeal of this mid-mountain region.
25th edition of Musiques en Vivarais-Lignon, from August 15 to 26, 2026. Classical and baroque music concerts in the churches, temples, and communal halls of the Vivarais-Lignon plateau (Ardèche / Haute-Loire): four major evening concerts and eight 'One Hour With' discovery meetings.
The Musiques en Vivarais-Lignon festival celebrates its 25th edition in 2026, a quarter-century of classical and baroque music in the villages of the Vivarais-Lignon plateau, straddling Ardèche and Haute-Loire. From August 15 to 26, 2026, the region once again welcomes international soloists, renowned ensembles, and young talents in the churches, temples, and communal halls that are the festival's signature.
True to its formula, the 2026 edition offers four major evening concerts at 9 PM and eight 'One Hour With' discovery meetings at 6 PM, in more modest towns where the public doesn't always travel. A quarter-century after its creation, Musiques en Vivarais-Lignon confirms its place among the essential summer musical events in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
Eight free sessions on August 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22, 24, and 25, in various churches and halls on the plateau (Saint-Jeure-d'Andaure, Saint-André-en-Vivarais…). Programming notably includes the Ziriab (flute and flamenco guitar) and Daïdaïne (voice and glockenspiel) duos.
The detailed program brochure for 2026 can be downloaded from the website of the Communauté de Communes du Haut-Lignon.
Concerts take place in various locations on the Vivarais-Lignon plateau: Saint-Agrève, Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, Le Mazet-Saint-Voy, Tence.
