Musiques en Vercors: thirty years of classical music at altitude
Since 1997, the Musiques en Vercors festival has been resonating classical music in the magnificent landscapes of the Vercors massif. Supported by the Association Musique en Vercors, a non-profit organization under the 1901 law whose goal is to promote music in all its forms, this festival has established itself over thirty editions as an unmissable event for classical music in Isère and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
A demanding and open classical program
Musiques en Vercors stands out for the quality and boldness of its programming. The festival offers a repertoire that spans the entire spectrum of classical music: from major masterpieces of the repertoire to contemporary creations, including baroque music, chamber music, solo recitals, and symphonic works. The program showcases both renowned artists and emerging young talents, creating a stimulating dialogue between generations of musicians.
Concerts in exceptional venues
One of the festival's unique features is its concerts held in remarkable heritage and natural sites in the Vercors. Churches, castles, historic halls, and open-air spaces host the musicians, offering spectators an experience where music blends with the beauty of the mountain landscapes. The Château de Villard-de-Lans and its glass roof are particularly emblematic venues of the festival.
The Music Academy: training the artists of tomorrow
Alongside the concerts, Musiques en Vercors offers a Music Academy that welcomes young instrumentalists each summer to perfect their skills with professional musicians. This educational dimension is at the heart of the festival's project, contributing to the training of tomorrow's artists and the transmission of musical excellence.
Pre-season concerts to extend the pleasure
Beyond the August festival, Musiques en Vercors offers pre-season concerts in the spring, traditionally held in June at the Château de Villard-de-Lans. These concerts launch the musical season and offer a taste of the summer program.
A festival rooted in the Vercors
Musiques en Vercors is deeply connected to the territory of the Vercors massif, straddling Isère and Drôme. The festival contributes to the cultural and tourist influence of this mountain region, attracting a discerning audience from across the region and beyond each summer. The villages of the Vercors thus become open-air musical stages for the duration of the festival, where classical music takes on a new dimension.
