Les Singulier·es: The Utopia of an Open and Eclectic Festival
Every winter, CENTQUATRE-PARIS opens its doors to the Les Singulier·es festival, a whole month of shows that blur the lines between disciplines. Since 2017, this multidisciplinary festival has established itself as a unique event in the Parisian cultural landscape, offering an exceptional showcase for the most daring projects in contemporary creation.
A Festival Born from Residencies
The distinctive feature of Les Singulier·es lies in its organic link with CENTQUATRE's artist residencies. The festival presents creations born or developed within this artistic institution of the City of Paris, making CENTQUATRE both a place of gestation and diffusion. The programmed shows are often premieres or creations, offering the public the unique experience of discovering works in their nascent stages.
At the Crossroads of Disciplines
The creations presented at Les Singulier·es are often at the intersection of several disciplines: theater and video, dance and music, circus and literature, performance and documentary. This hybridity is at the heart of the festival's identity, which rejects rigid categories to embrace the complexity of contemporary artistic expressions.
A Generous Program
Each edition offers about ten shows spread over a month, allowing the public to immerse themselves in a rich and varied artistic universe. The festival is accompanied by artist encounters, open rehearsals, and sharing moments that extend the experience of the shows and strengthen the bond between creators and their audience.
CENTQUATRE-PARIS: An Infinite Space
CENTQUATRE-PARIS, located at 5 rue Curial in the 19th arrondissement, is a place of art, culture, and innovation directed by José-Manuel Gonçalvès. Housed in the former funeral services of the City of Paris, this 39,000 m² space hosts hundreds of artists in residence each year and offers an ambitious multidisciplinary program, of which Les Singulier·es is one of the winter highlights.
