Les Turbulles: Circus Festival in Leyrieu

The festival Les Turbulles is a cultural event dedicated to circus arts and performing arts, organized annually by the association À Balles & Bulles in the village of Leyrieu, located in northern Isère, between Lyon and La Tour du Pin. Since its creation, the festival has established itself as a must-attend event for families and performing arts enthusiasts in the region.

A "Terribly Lively" Festival

Les Turbulles defines itself as a festival of "terribly lively and totally family-friendly" performances. The program highlights circus arts in all their forms: acrobatics, juggling, balancing, clowning, trapeze, and other circus disciplines. Each edition offers "spectacular" entertainment everywhere, with shows spread across different areas of the village, creating a festive and surprising experience for spectators.

Workshops for Everyone

Beyond the shows, Les Turbulles offers discovery workshops that allow young and old to try circus arts and meet the artists. These practical and interactive sessions are at the heart of the festival's project, which promotes an accessible and participatory vision of culture. Children's shows are suitable for ages 3 to 12 years old, making the festival particularly family-friendly.

Invited Artists and Companies

Each edition hosts about ten companies and artists from all over France. In 2025, the program notably featured Philippe Illusionniste and the Compagnie des marchands de sable, alongside other circus and theater groups. The performances alternate between shows under the big top, street performances, and indoor shows.

A Committed Association

The association À Balles & Bulles, based in Leyrieu, has been organizing the festival since its inception. It works throughout the year to promote circus and performing arts in the northern Isère region through cultural activities, workshops, and one-off events. Les Turbulles is the association's annual highlight, mobilizing a team of passionate volunteers.
