The National Day in Linas

The municipality of Linas, in Essonne, offers an extraordinary celebration each year for the National Day, blending a cultural show and fireworks. This unique format, developed over the years, makes the evening of July 13th in Linas an event anticipated well beyond the municipal borders.

A Thematic Sound and Light Show

The highlight of the evening is a sound and light show performed by the Troupe du 14 Juillet, which each year chooses an inspiring literary or historical theme to stage a spectacular visual and sound fresco. In 2025, the troupe chose to illustrate Victor Hugo's Les Misérables, taking spectators into 19th-century revolutionary Paris through a luminous and musical narrative. This thematic choice, rooted in national history, reinforces the sense of republican commemoration.

The Town's Fireworks Display

At 11:45 PM, the fireworks display offered by the Town of Linas concludes the evening in a deluge of colors and lights. Fired from the COSOM site, it illuminates the sky of the Montlhéry plain and is visible from several surrounding towns. This fireworks display is the culmination of an evening rich in emotions.

COSOM, an Iconic Venue

The festivities take place at COSOM, 9 rue de Carcassonne in Linas. This sports and event complex in the town has vast outdoor spaces to accommodate the many spectators who come to enjoy the evening. Access is completely free, and donations are welcome to support the troupe's activities.

Linas and its Automobile Circuit

Linas is world-renowned for hosting part of the legendary Circuit de Montlhéry (Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry), a major site for motorsport since 1924. This international fame contrasts with the modest size of the town of about 5,500 inhabitants, which nevertheless knows how to organize quality cultural and festive events.
