Live music festival in the churches of Perche
Born in 2022, the L'Oreille du Perche festival has quickly established itself as an original and demanding musical event in the cultural landscape of Orne. Every summer, for four days, the churches and heritage sites of Perche host live music concerts with a resolutely open and unclassifiable artistic approach.
L'Oreille du Perche stands out for its artistic program that takes unexpected paths, blending jazz, improvised music, world music, contemporary creations, and hybrid forms. The cultures, journeys, and styles of the invited artists are diverse and intertwined, offering the public a rich and surprising musical experience. The 2025 edition notably featured the group Superklang and a jazz concert "My Own Ravel".
Concerts take place in the Romanesque and Gothic churches of the communes of Cœur du Perche and Pays de Mortagne-au-Perche. These buildings offer remarkable natural acoustics and an intimate architectural setting that enhances musical performances and creates a unique link between heritage and contemporary creation.
The traveling format of the festival invites spectators to discover the architectural and landscape heritage of Perche through the concerts. From village to village, from church to church, L'Oreille du Perche weaves a musical and heritage trail that echoes the beauty of the hills, manors, and forests of this preserved region.
Beyond the summer festival, L'Oreille du Perche offers a cultural season throughout the year, with occasional concerts and events in Perche, contributing to the animation of the territory and the loyalty of a curious and open audience of music lovers.
The 5th edition, scheduled from July 23 to 26, 2026, in Mauves-sur-Huisne and Préaux-du-Perche, confirms the vitality and ambition of this young festival, which is gradually expanding its territory while retaining its unique artistic identity.
The 5th edition of L'Oreille du Perche takes place from July 23 to 26, 2026, in the churches of Perche (Mauves-sur-Huisne and Préaux-du-Perche), around the theme « L'intranquillité » (Restlessness) inspired by the work of Fernando Pessoa. Four concerts of unclassifiable live music, mixing jazz, world music, poetry, and contemporary creations.
True to its artistic identity focused on creation and contemporary music, the L'Oreille du Perche festival returns for its 5th edition from July 23 to 26, 2026. Four evenings of concerts will take over the churches of Perche, in Orne, around a common thread inspired by Fernando Pessoa's Book of Disquiet: the difficulty of being and the search for meaning.
The 2026 program explores jazz, world music (Italy, Iran, India, Ireland), and the dialogue between poetry and music. All concerts have free seating; a refreshment stand is set up at each venue, open 1h30 before and 1h after each concert.
