Lyon Tattoo Convention: The Oldest Tattoo Convention in France
The Lyon Tattoo Convention is an emblematic event on the French and European tattoo scene. Founded in 1996 by Jerry Garcia, it is the oldest tattoo convention in France. The very first edition was held on a Lyon barge, before conquering ever larger venues over the years.
Over 200 International Artists
Each edition brings together over 200 international tattoo artists from France and around the world – Italy, Brazil, Norway, South Korea, Turkey, China, and many other countries. All tattoo styles are represented: realism, portrait, traditional, Japanese, blackwork, fine line, ornamental, dotwork, new school, old school, and many others. Visitors can get tattooed on-site by the artists of their choice, discover new techniques, and meet the most prominent talents on the global scene.
Competitions, Shows, and Activities
The convention offers a rich and varied program of activities throughout the weekend. Daily tattoo competitions reward the best creations in various categories: Black & Grey, Color, Dotwork, Best of Day, and many more. Live performances – acrobatic shows, body art, body painting – punctuate the days, while interviews and conferences with renowned artists allow for a deeper understanding of this ancient art.
A Major Event in the Lyon Metropolis
Organized by Gones Tattoo Ink, the Lyon Tattoo Convention has established itself over its 28 editions as a major event in Lyon's cultural life. The event attracts around 10,000 visitors each year, including tattoo enthusiasts, the curious, and body art lovers. The convention celebrates tattooing as an art form in its own right, blending tradition and innovation in a friendly and festive atmosphere.
Impeccable Techniques and Hygiene
The Lyon Tattoo Convention places paramount importance on hygiene and safety. Demonstrations of tattooing techniques and hygiene protocols are offered throughout the event, allowing visitors and apprentice tattoo artists to learn about the best practices for this demanding art.
