Every year in February, the town of Joué-lès-Tours hosts its Truffle and Flavors Market, a major gastronomic event of the winter season in Touraine. Organized in partnership between the City of Joué-lès-Tours and the Association of Touraine Truffle Growers, this market is certified by the French Federation of Truffle Growers.

Black Truffle and Saffron in the Spotlight

The heart of the market is dedicated to the black truffle of Touraine (Tuber melanosporum), the precious black diamond that local truffle growers offer for direct sale. The truffles are carefully inspected and graded before being presented to visitors. Alongside the truffle, Touraine saffron holds a prominent place, as this rare spice is cultivated by several producers in the region.

A Range of Regional Flavors

The market goes far beyond just truffles, offering a wide panorama of the flavors of the Touraine region. Among the exhibitors, you will find beekeepers with their honeys and hive products, artisanal charcuterie producers, organic fruit juice pressers, specialists in vanilla and spices, heliculturists (snail producers), winegrowers offering wines from Touraine appellations, and many other taste artisans.

A New Venue for New Dynamics

The market has been held in various locations over the years, reflecting its growing success. After being organized in different spaces in the town, it has settled on Place François-Mitterrand and in the La Borde Leisure Center parking lot, offering a larger space to accommodate the many exhibitors and visitors who flock there each year.

Admission to the market is free, making it accessible to all audiences. Truffle growers and producers are available to share their passion, provide preparation and conservation tips, and help visitors discover their products. The market is held on Saturday mornings, from 9 AM to 12:30 PM, in a warm and gourmet atmosphere that attracts many visitors from the entire Tours metropolis and beyond each year.
