The Christmas village of Longjumeau, Halle and Parc Mandela, festive illuminations and activities
The Marché de Noël de Longjumeau sets up its Christmas village in the Halle and Parc Nelson Mandela every December. Creative workshops, concerts, activities for the whole family, and illuminations displayed throughout the town from early December to mid-January make up a warm and festive program in the heart of Essonne.
Each year, the town of Longjumeau dons its festive lights to host its Christmas market. The Christmas village takes place in the Halle and at Parc Nelson Mandela, creating two complementary spaces dedicated to Christmas shopping and festive activities. Wooden chalets offer local crafts, Christmas decorations, jewelry, textiles, and gourmet specialties: hot chocolate, mulled wine, gingerbread, and sweets.
The Longjumeau Christmas market program is for all audiences. Creative workshops allow children to make their own Christmas decorations under the guidance of volunteers and organizers. Concerts and musical performances liven up the evenings and afternoons, creating a warm and unifying atmosphere. The town hall also organizes one-off activities and events throughout the holiday season.
Well beyond the market weekend, the town of Longjumeau lights up for several weeks. From early December to January 12th, the streets, squares, and facades of the town sparkle with a thousand lights. These Christmas illuminations create a soft and sparkling atmosphere that gives the Longjumeau winter its charm. Luminous fir trees, garlands, and decorative installations line the main streets and the town center.
The Marché de Noël de Longjumeau is organized by the Ville de Longjumeau, with the support of the traders' association and numerous volunteers. It is part of a festive tradition rooted in local life and is one of the highlights of the year-end for the residents of the commune and its surroundings. The town of Longjumeau, with its approximately 21,000 inhabitants, offers a dynamic town center setting for this event, easily accessible by public transport via the RER C.
