The Molsheim Christmas Market: a Renaissance setting for the holidays

In the heart of Molsheim, a charming wine-growing town at the foot of the Vosges mountains, the Christmas Market annually takes over the most beautiful sites in the town to offer visitors an authentically Alsatian Christmas experience. The Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, dominated by the majestic Metzig — a 16th-century Renaissance building built for the butchers' guild —, is the beating heart of the event with its ten beautifully decorated wooden chalets.

Three sites, one magic

The market is spread across three complementary locations that give visitors the opportunity to discover the richness of Molsheim's heritage:

• Place de l'Hôtel de Ville: ten chalets offering gourmet specialties and local crafts, at the foot of the Metzig and its famous double staircase crowned with a turret with jacquemart clock.
• Metzig upper floor: about fifteen exhibitors present their creations in the historic rooms of this architectural gem.
• Espace Saint-Joseph: eleven additional chalets in the inner courtyard, offering an intimate and warm atmosphere.

"Noël d'antan": a unique medieval journey

The "Noël d'antan" is the unmissable highlight of the Molsheim Christmas Market. For one weekend in December, the town plunges into the medieval atmosphere: knight fights, medieval banquet, costumed parades, and juggling shows transform the historic center into a true seigneurial court. This event within the event attracts thousands of additional visitors each year and makes the Molsheim Christmas renowned far beyond Alsace.

Exceptional delicacies and crafts

The market chalets are full of gourmet and artisanal treasures: traditional bredele, gingerbread, mulled wine with Christmas spices, savory and sweet Alsatian specialties. Crafts are also featured with Christmas decorations, jewelry, candles, wooden objects, ceramic creations, and sewing items. The arrival of Saint Nicholas in early December and the presence of Santa Claus delight the youngest, while concerts and musical entertainment punctuate the Advent weekends.
