The Nancy Christmas Markets are among the most renowned in France. From late November to early January, the city center of Nancy is adorned with lights and hosts dozens of chalets on Place Charles III and in the adjacent streets. Place Stanislas, a UNESCO World Heritage site, lights up every evening with a sound and light show telling the Legend of Saint Nicholas. A Ferris wheel, an eco-responsible ice rink, Lorraine crafts, and regional gastronomy complete the festivities.

Each year, from late November to early January, the city of Nancy transforms into a true Christmas town, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors to discover its illuminations, chalets, and unique festive atmosphere within its historic squares.

Place Stanislas in majesty

Place Stanislas, an 18th-century architectural gem and UNESCO World Heritage site, is the heart of the festivities. Every evening, the facade of the Town Hall becomes a giant screen for a 10-minute sound and light show titled "The Legend of Saint Nicholas," projecting magical animations that delight young and old alike.

The Grand Village of Saint Nicholas

On Place Charles III, the Grand Village of Saint Nicholas hosts about sixty decorated chalets, bathed in the scents of gingerbread, mulled wine, and Lorraine specialties. Artisans, creators, and local producers offer their creations: Christmas decorations, jewelry, local products, sweets, and gift ideas.

Ferris Wheel: A Ferris wheel offers a panoramic view of the illuminated city.
Eco-responsible Ice Rink: A 50x10 meter ice rink is set up at the end of Place de la Carrière, facing the Ferris wheel.
Saint Nicholas Parade: On the Saturday closest to December 6th, a grand parade of floats crosses the city center with Saint Nicholas, followed by a final fireworks display on Place Stanislas.

Gastronomy and Lorraine Terroir

The Christmas markets are an opportunity to taste Lorraine specialties: quiche lorraine, pâté lorraine, mirabelle plums, Nancy macarons, bergamots, gingerbread, and of course, traditional mulled wine. The food chalets also offer Christmas specialties from Alsace and Europe.

The markets are spread across Place Charles III, Place Stanislas, and the streets of Nancy's city center.

By train: Nancy-Ville station (TGV from Paris in 1h30, TER from Metz, Strasbourg, Luxembourg), then a 10-minute walk to Place Stanislas.
By car: Nancy is accessible via the A31 and A33. Underground parking in the city center (Stanislas, Saint-Georges, Charles III).
By tram: Line 1, stops "Place Stanislas" or "Cathédrale."
