Sand racing on the beach, artisan mechanics, custom motorcycle exhibitions, rock concerts, and local gastronomy made up a program that attracted thousands of enthusiasts each year. Mot & Arts: Kustom Culture Came to Hossegor
Born in 2015 from the passion of a group of friends gathered within the Hapchot Wheels association, the Mot & Arts festival had established itself in a few editions as a key event for kustom culture in the Southwest of France. The association, created in January 2015 in Hossegor, brought together enthusiasts of motorcycles, local lifestyle, custom culture, graphic arts, and music.
A Multifaceted Festival
Mot & Arts offered a program that explored all dimensions of kustom culture:
- Sand racing: spectacular races of custom motorcycles and vehicles on the sand of Hossegor beach
- Exhibitions: custom motorcycles, choppers, bobbers, café racers, and vintage vehicles presented by their creators (up to 150 selected motorcycles)
- Artisan Mechanics: demonstrations of craftsmanship by customizers and builders, gathered under about forty stands
- Visual Arts: painting, illustration, tattooing, screen printing, and graphic arts related to the kustom universe
- Concerts: rock, garage, and blues music program in line with the festival's spirit
- Gastronomy: food trucks and local catering
Hossegor: An Ideal Setting
Between pine forest, lake, and the Atlantic Ocean, Soorts-Hossegor offered an exceptional natural setting for this kustom culture festival. The beach, with its fine sand and mythical waves, became the stage for spectacular sand races, while urban spaces hosted exhibitions and concerts.
A Free and Popular Event
True to the spirit of sharing and accessibility of kustom culture, Mot & Arts was an entirely free festival. The second edition, in 2016, welcomed several thousand visitors, confirming the public's enthusiasm for this event. The festival attracted both mechanics enthusiasts and families and curious visitors, in a relaxed atmosphere typical of the Landes coast.
The End of an Adventure
After editions held in 2015, 2016, 2017, and then 2019, Mot & Arts no longer seems to have been organized. No edition has been publicly documented since 2019, and the Hossegor tourist office no longer mentions the event in its program. The page remains available as a testament to this event that marked the kustom scene of the Southwest.
