Free concerts throughout the city center on June 20 and 21, 2026
Every June 21st, Bayonne celebrates the Fête de la Musique: the pedestrian streets and squares of the historic center transform into open-air stages. From jazz to flamenco, rock to Basque songs, world music to electro, the city vibrates for free and without reservation, from Grand Bayonne to Petit Bayonne. For 2026, the festival will span two days, Saturday, June 20th and Sunday, June 21st.
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Bayonne into an open-air stage every June 21st. In the heart of the Basque Country, the event blends Basque culture, local traditions, French variety, and rhythms from all over the world. Amateur and professional musicians play for free in the pedestrian streets and squares of the center, from mid-morning until late into the night.
The festival is usually organized around the main squares of the city center, each dedicated to a musical atmosphere: jazz and pop on one, flamenco, sevillanas and Mediterranean music on another, rock and funk on a third, DJ sets and electronic music on a more contemporary stage. Bars, terraces, and shopkeepers extend the celebration by offering their own concerts throughout the historic center, from Grand Bayonne to Petit Bayonne.
Organized by the City of Bayonne, the 2026 edition exceptionally extends over two days, June 20th and 21st, to celebrate the summer solstice and the beginning of the summer season.
