Free concerts in the city center on June 21, 2026
Every June 21, Carmaux celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival): amateur musicians and local groups freely take over the city center, from Place Gambetta to Place Jean-Jaurès, from the bandstand to the Jean-Baptiste-Calvignac cultural center. Organized by the City of Carmaux, the evening is entirely free and blends rock, jazz, blues, chanson, world music, and electro.
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Carmaux, in the Tarn, into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely takes over the squares and streets of the city center in the evening, across all genres and for all audiences.
Typically, the festival unfolds in several locations in the heart of Carmaux: Place Gambetta, Place Jean-Jaurès, the bandstand, the Jean-Baptiste-Calvignac cultural center, as well as the city's bars and cafés. The program features a dialogue of styles — rock, jazz, blues, chanson, world music, and electro — performed by local groups and amateur musicians. The evening traditionally concludes with the Saint-Jean bonfire, lit in Place Gambetta.
