Eleven free stages in the 9 districts on June 21, 2026
Every June 21st, Lyon celebrates the Fête de la Musique throughout the city: from Croix-Rousse to Vieux-Lyon, from the banks of the Rhône to the district parks, squares and streets transform into open stages. Supported by the City of Lyon, the day is entirely free and mixes all styles, from tango to hip-hop, from pop to rock, from classical to world music.
Since its national creation in 1982, the Fête de la Musique has become one of Lyon's major popular summer events. On June 21st, music takes over public spaces: amateurs and professionals play for free in squares, forecourts, riverbanks, and parks, from early afternoon until the middle of the night.
Each year, the City of Lyon labels about ten stages spread across the nine districts, complemented by initiatives from bars, associations, music schools, and social centers. You'll find everything from the Orchestre national de Lyon to brass bands, choirs, young talent showcases, and DJ sets.
Among the emblematic locations of the festival: the Boulevard de la Croix-Rousse and its multiple stages, Place de la Bourse, Place Guichard, the Auditorium forecourt, Place Saint-Jean in Vieux-Lyon, Place Raspail in La Guillotière, or Parc Roquette in the 9th district. Genres coexist without hierarchy: swing, gospel, classical, garage pop, reggae-dub, electro, rap, and chanson.
The Fête de la Musique 2026 in Lyon takes place on Sunday, June 21, from 11 AM to midnight, free of charge throughout the city. Eleven stages, officially recognized by the City of Lyon, animate the 9 districts, complemented by concerts from bars, associations, and music schools.
