Musiques en Haut: Culture in the Heart of Nature

For almost thirty years, the Musiques en Haut festival has offered an exceptional musical program in the heart of Haut-Jura. Driven by the association Amis des Orgues du Haut-Jura, this festival was built around a conviction: great music can and must be experienced in exceptional places, far from large urban concert halls.

Exceptional Venues for Exceptional Music

The festival takes over remarkable sites in the Station des Rousses and the Haut-Jura region. The Fort des Rousses, an imposing 19th-century military fortress converted into a cultural site and cheese aging facility, hosts the major evening concerts in a unique atmosphere. The churches of the resort's communes offer ideal acoustics for recitals and chamber music. Open-air concerts in the village center complete the program.

A Two-Part Program

The festival is structured in two complementary parts during the summer. The first part, in July, is designed as a "living laboratory" where music dialogues, illuminates, and transcends expected frameworks. The second part extends this exploration with new artistic proposals.

Baroque, Romantic, Contemporary, and Beyond

The programming of Musiques en Haut spans centuries and styles: baroque music, romantic repertoire, contemporary creations, and encounters between musical traditions from the East and West. Each edition proposes a unifying theme that guides the programming, such as "New Territories" in 2025.

The festival hosts leading artistic personalities, performers and ensembles recognized on the international stage, alongside young talents and emerging creators. This artistic excellence, combined with the warmth of a human-sized festival, makes Musiques en Haut unique.
