The National Day under the canopy of the Montmorency Forest
Saint-Brice-sous-Forêt (95350) is a commune in the Val-d'Oise nestled on the southern edge of the Montmorency state forest. With its approximately 14,000 inhabitants, Saint-Brice is a residential town highly appreciated for the quality of its natural environment and its proximity to Paris via the Transilien. The very name of the commune, "sous-Forêt" (under-Forest), testifies to its ancestral link with the Montmorency Forest, which is one of the largest state-owned forests in Île-de-France with its 2,600 hectares.
The Montmorency Forest is an exceptional natural heritage: century-old beeches, chestnut trees, oaks, and hornbeams make up a forest massif that the inhabitants of Saint-Brice and neighboring communes appreciate for their walks and outdoor activities. This privileged natural setting gives life in Saint-Brice a special quality that the National Day of July 14th magnificently highlights.
The July 14th fireworks in Saint-Brice-sous-Forêt are a moment of special magic. Fired from the green spaces of the commune or from clearings at the edge of the forest, this pyrotechnic show illuminates the treetops and creates a striking picture. The colorful explosions are reflected on the dense foliage of the Montmorency Forest, multiplying the visual effects and creating an enchanting atmosphere.
The inhabitants of Saint-Brice gather in the green spaces and forest edges from dusk to watch the show in the best conditions. The summer night air, imbued with the scents of the forest, enhances the magic of this moment.
The day of July 14th in Saint-Brice-sous-Forêt begins with family entertainment in the parks and green spaces of the commune. Local associations offer activities for all ages: sports, inflatable games, food stalls. The proximity of the forest can be used for guided walks or nature treasure hunts for children.
The torchlight procession goes through the streets of Saint-Brice in a festive and symbolic atmosphere. This nocturnal lantern parade, which precedes the fireworks, is particularly impressive when it runs along the forest edges. After the fireworks, the popular ball brings together the inhabitants for an evening of dancing and conviviality under the stars.
Saint-Brice-sous-Forêt is a commune attached to its traditions and its natural living environment. The National Day is celebrated there in this spirit: with care for the quality of the entertainment offered, respect for the forest environment, and attachment to the republican values that form the national community. A simple, authentic, and popular celebration, in the best tradition of the French July 14th.
