Reggae, solidarity and nature between lake and mountain in Anglefort
Created in 2016 by the Mélodies du Monde association, the Nomade Reggae Festival has established itself over a decade as one of the major reggae festivals in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Set on the natural site of the Plan d'eau de Mansin in Anglefort, between Lake Bourget and the majestic Grand Colombier massif, the festival offers an enchanting setting where music resonates between sky and mountain.
Over four days, the Nomade Reggae Festival offers a rich and eclectic programme blending reggae, dub, ska, dancehall and world music. Festivalgoers can enjoy concerts across multiple stages as well as sound systems that keep the site buzzing late into the night. Over the years, the festival has hosted international reggae legends such as Alpha Blondy, Groundation, Danakil, Taiwan MC, Pierpoljak, Clinton Fearon, Yaniss Odua, Nuttea, Anthony B and Broussaï, alongside emerging artists and local collectives from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
The Nomade Reggae Festival stands out for its strong solidarity commitment. The Mélodies du Monde association, which drives the project, works to promote cultural diversity, intercultural exchange and community harmony. Festival profits directly fund a socio-medical and literacy centre in the rural commune of Sanankoroba, Mali. Thanks to previous editions, the association has been able to acquire a 1,500 square metre plot of land, install a solar hydraulic pump and begin construction of the centre in January 2018. The facility provides medical care, literacy classes and support for women who are victims of violence.
The Plan d'eau de Mansin provides an ideal natural setting for the festival. Located just 45 minutes from Annecy and Geneva, 54 minutes from Chambéry and 1h30 from Lyon, the site is easily accessible while offering a complete change of scenery. On-site camping allows festivalgoers to fully immerse themselves in the experience in a friendly and family-oriented atmosphere, true to the festival's spirit. The Nomade Reggae Festival is open to all, with free admission for children under 12, embodying the values of sharing and openness at its core.
