The meeting place for emerging talents in contemporary song
Created in 2005 by the Théâtre de Villefranche in partnership with the Communauté d'Agglomération Villefranche Beaujolais Saône, the Nouvelles Voix en Beaujolais festival has become over twenty years an essential event for discovering young artists on the French music scene. For two weeks in October, about twenty emerging artists perform in ten heritage and cultural venues scattered across the Beaujolais region.
Since 2005, the Nouvelles Voix en Beaujolais festival has established itself as one of the flagship events for musical discovery in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Supported by the Théâtre de Villefranche in partnership with the Communauté d'Agglomération Villefranche Beaujolais Saône, this festival has affirmed a strong, curious, and bold artistic identity over the years, deeply rooted in its territory.
The originality of Nouvelles Voix en Beaujolais lies in its traveling format. For two weeks in October, concerts take place in ten venues spread across the entire agglomeration: wine châteaux, Romanesque churches, museums, and performance halls host up-and-coming artists. From Villefranche-sur-Saône to Blacé, from Theizé to Montmelas-Saint-Sorlin, from Gleizé to Jassans-Riottier and Tarare, the festival weaves a musical journey through the rolling landscapes of Beaujolais.
By highlighting young artists from the contemporary music scene, the festival has revealed numerous talents over the years before they gained national recognition. The program blends French song, pop, folk, world music, and current music, with a particular focus on writing and creation. Each edition features about twenty artists for around twenty concerts, complemented by free afterworks in heritage sites, combining musical discovery with Beaujolais wine tasting.
Beyond performance, Nouvelles Voix en Beaujolais supports artists in their professional development. The festival offers creation residencies at the Théâtre de Villefranche's studio, allowing musicians to work in professional conditions before performing on stage. Professional meetings and exchange sessions between artists, programmers, and the public enrich each edition.
With approximately 2,500 festival-goers per edition, Nouvelles Voix en Beaujolais has built a loyal and passionate audience while attracting new spectators each year, drawn by the quality of the programming and the charm of the venues. The festival receives support from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, the Rhône Department, and the DRAC, confirming its essential role in the cultural dynamism of Beaujolais.
The 22nd edition of the Nouvelles Voix en Beaujolais festival will take place in October 2026. The festival will continue its mission of discovering young talents from the French music scene, with concerts in the heritage and cultural venues of Beaujolais.
The Nouvelles Voix en Beaujolais festival returns for its 22nd edition in October 2026. True to its commitment to musical discovery and emerging talent, the festival will present a new selection of promising artists in the heritage venues of the Beaujolais region.
The program will be announced in the fall of 2026. As every year, the festival will feature concerts, heritage afterworks, and artist meet-and-greets.
