The street art festival that transforms Lyon into an open-air gallery
Since 2019, the Peinture Fraîche Festival has established itself as the major street art event in France. Each edition takes over an exceptional venue in the Lyon metropolitan area to transform it into a gigantic urban art gallery. Paintings, graffiti, collages, stencils, installations, and live performances unfold over thousands of square meters, weaving a unique dialogue between street art, music, and new technologies.
Created in 2019 by the association Troi3 and street artist Cart1, in partnership with the agency Tintamarre and Le Petit Bulletin, the Peinture Fraîche Festival was born from a strong ambition: to offer street art a setting worthy of its overflowing creativity. Since its first edition, the festival has won over the Lyon public and has established itself as one of the most important urban art events in France.
The festival's signature lies in its ability to take over venues in transition and metamorphose them into monumental exhibition spaces. The former Fagor-Brandt factories in the 7th arrondissement, the Serin college on the slopes of Croix-Rousse, or the Magasins Généraux in Bourgoin-Jallieu: each edition surprises with the choice of a unique site that dialogues with the works created in situ.
The festival brings together internationally renowned artists and emerging talents from the Lyon scene. Among the artists who have marked previous editions are names like Cobalt, 1Port, Maxime Ivanez, and PEC. Each edition hosts about fifteen artists who create their works live during the festival, offering visitors a fascinating spectacle of real-time creation.
Since 2022, Peinture Fraîche has broadened its horizons by integrating musical sessions, video screenings, a retro gaming space, and areas dedicated to the metaverse and NFTs. Demonstrations of BMX, street football, and XXL live painting complete a resolutely multidisciplinary program that reflects the spirit of urban culture in all its diversity.
While the festival's heart is in Lyon, it doesn't hesitate to explore new territories, as in 2025 with an edition relocated to Bourgoin-Jallieu which attracted 9,000 visitors. This mobility is part of Peinture Fraîche's DNA, as it constantly seeks to surprise and democratize urban art for all audiences.
The Peinture Fraîche Festival returns in May 2026 for a new edition in the Lyon metropolitan area. The exact location and dates will be announced soon. The festival promises an immersion into contemporary urban art with French and international artists.
After the 2025 excursion to Bourgoin-Jallieu, the Peinture Fraîche Festival returns in May 2026 for a new edition. The location, still kept secret, promises to live up to the festival's reputation for its exceptional site choices.
The artistic program and the venue will be unveiled in spring 2026 on the festival's official website and social media. Ticketing will open online a few weeks before the event.
