The great popular and free fair of Poitou
An unmissable event of the Poitevin spring since 1937, the Foire de Poitiers brings together over 200 exhibitors each year at the Grand Poitiers Exhibition Center. For six days, this free fair-exhibition offers themed villages, a gourmet village, an agricultural village with an educational farm, concerts, family entertainment, and a funfair. A true showcase of regional know-how and Poitevin conviviality, it attracts tens of thousands of visitors.
Created in 1937, the Foire de Poitiers is one of the oldest and most attended events in the Vienne department. Organized annually in May, it will celebrate its 90th edition in 2026, demonstrating remarkable longevity that makes it a pillar of the cultural and commercial life of Poitou. Hosted at the Grand Poitiers Exhibition Center, rue Salvador Allende, this large free fair-exhibition attracts tens of thousands of visitors from all over Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
The Foire de Poitiers brings together over 200 exhibitors spread across the halls and outdoor areas of the park. Building artisans, interior design specialists, kitchen designers, landscapers, and pergola and veranda builders make up a vast Home and Outdoor Hub. The Agricultural Village highlights local producers and hosts an educational farm with cows, sheep, goats, and donkeys, much to the delight of families.
The Gourmet Village, open until midnight, offers a selection of restaurants and food trucks to discover regional and international flavors. Each edition is centered around a unifying theme: in 2024, a "Journey Around the World" invited visitors to Canada, Portugal, Thailand, and the Pacific Islands; in 2025, Italy was in the spotlight with Alpine cuisine, music, and Italian cars. Free concerts, shows, and entertainment punctuate the days and evenings.
The Games Village delights young and old with LEGO exhibitions and activities, video games, and board games. The funfair, which sets up the week before the fair with about fifty rides and attractions, extends the celebration for nearly two weeks. An Army Village offers sports courses and demonstrations, while the Campervan Village and the Car-Motorcycle-Scooter Village appeal to vehicle enthusiasts.
Admission to the Foire de Poitiers is completely free, as is the 1,500-space parking lot. The site is accessible by bus via Vitalis lines and is a few minutes from the Poitiers TGV station, connected to Paris in 1h15. This accessibility contributes to the popular success of an event that unites all generations around commerce, gastronomy, and celebration.
The 90th edition of the Foire de Poitiers celebrates "Retro Years" with a 60s village, vintage clothing, vinyl records, retro furniture, pinball machines, and enamel signs. Swing, rockabilly, disco, and French variety concerts, 200 exhibitors, and free entertainment from May 20-25, 2026.
