Electronic music festival at altitude in Les Deux Alpes, at 3,200 meters in the French Alps
Positiv Winter is the winter version of the Positiv Festival, created in 2022 by Nicolas Cuer. Located in the heart of the Les Deux Alpes resort in Isère, this unique event offers a day of open-air electronic music at the Refuge des Glaciers, at an altitude of 3,200 meters. Blending techno, house, and skiing in an exceptional panorama facing Mont Blanc and the Écrins, the festival brings together up to 2,000 enthusiasts for an unforgettable sensory experience between snow and beats, on one of Europe's highest stages.
Positiv Winter was born in 2022 from the ambition of Nicolas Cuer, producer, DJ, and founder of the Positiv Festival in Orange, to transpose the energy of his summer festival into the grandiose setting of the French Alps. The idea is simple yet audacious: to bring together the best artists from the international techno and house scene on one of Europe's highest stages, amidst snow-capped peaks, for an experience where electronic music merges with the mountains.
The first edition was held on March 15, 2022, at the Signal 2108 in Alpe d'Huez, at an altitude of 2,100 meters, headlined by the legendary Boris Brejcha, undisputed master of minimal techno, who delivered a 3.5-hour set against a breathtaking panorama. The resounding success of this first event convinced the organizers to perpetuate the concept.
In 2023, the festival returned to Alpe d'Huez for a memorable Easter weekend with Lilly Palmer, Space 92, Nicolas Cuer, and Anion X during the day at Signal, followed by a nocturnal after-party at the Igloo Club with the Cosmic Boys. The event thus confirmed its status as an unmissable gathering on the mountain electronic scene.
Starting in 2024, Positiv Winter settled in Les Deux Alpes, at the mythical Refuge des Glaciers, perched at an altitude of 3,200 meters. This high-altitude restaurant, one of the highest in France, can accommodate 2,000 people and offers a spectacular panorama of Mont Blanc, the Écrins, and the entire Alpine chain. The stage, set up outdoors facing the peaks, creates a unique atmosphere where the bass resonates among the glaciers.
The principle of Positiv Winter is to offer a full day blending winter sports and high-caliber electronic music. Festival-goers take the ski lifts in Les Deux Alpes to reach the summit of the glacier, where they enjoy 8 hours of non-stop music, from noon to 8 PM, in an exceptional natural setting. The atmosphere is both festive and contemplative: people dance in ski suits, sunglasses on, under a spring sun that illuminates the snowy peaks.
The festival stands out for its demanding programming, focusing on melodic techno, industrial techno, and progressive house. Each edition brings together four to six top international artists, offering long, immersive sets that take advantage of the mountain's natural acoustics.
Over the editions, Positiv Winter has hosted some of the biggest names in the global electronic scene: Boris Brejcha, Space 92, Lilly Palmer, Massano (prodigy from the Afterlife label), Popof, and the Cosmic Boys. The festival also highlights French talent and emerging artists, true to the discovery philosophy that has driven the Positiv Festival since its creation in 2012.
Positiv Winter is part of the dynamic of mountain festivals that transform Alpine resorts into hubs of electronic culture. Alongside Tomorrowland Winter, Rise Festival, and Electronic Peak Festival, it contributes to the international renown of the French Alps in the music scene. Its intimate format—limited to 2,000 people—and its exceptional natural setting make it a radically different experience from large festivals in the plains, where the communion between music, mountains, and the elements takes on an almost spiritual dimension.
Fifth edition of Positiv Winter at the Refuge des Glaciers in Les Deux Alpes, at an altitude of 3,200 meters. The festival returns for the Easter weekend with an international-scale techno and house lineup, blending established artists and emerging talents in a spectacular Alpine setting.
Positiv Winter returns to Les Deux Alpes on Sunday, April 5, 2026, Easter weekend, for its fifth edition at the Refuge des Glaciers. The event promises another exceptional day blending electronic music and winter sports at 3,200 meters altitude, on one of Europe's highest stages.
True to its philosophy, the festival will offer 8 hours of non-stop music from noon to 8 PM, with a program focused on melodic techno, industrial techno, and progressive house. Artists will perform one after another on the stage set up outdoors, facing the majestic panorama of the Écrins massif and Mont Blanc, offering the 2,000 festival-goers an incomparable musical and visual experience.
This fifth edition marks a symbolic milestone for the festival, which has established itself in just a few years as a major event on the French winter electronic calendar. The intimate format and the exceptional natural setting continue to attract a passionate audience from all over France and Europe, eager to experience this unique communion between music and the mountains.
The festival takes place at the Refuge des Glaciers, located at the summit of the Les Deux Alpes ski area, at an altitude of 3,200 meters. This high-altitude restaurant, one of the highest in France, is accessible only by the resort's ski lifts.
The festival runs from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Access to the summit via ski lifts opens at 9:00 AM. It is advisable to arrive early to enjoy skiing before the sets begin.
The Les Deux Alpes resort offers a wide range of accommodation: hotels, tourist residences, rental apartments, and chalets. It is highly recommended to book in advance, especially if the festival takes place during the Easter weekend.
