About Children's Film Festival
Children's Film Festival — edition 2026
The 28th Children's Film Festival takes place from October 19th to 28th, 2026, in Vizille and Villard-Bonnot, under the theme "From Page to Screen." Eleven films adapted from children's novels will compete before three juries (children, youth, and adults), among more than 40 films screened for ages 3 and up. Le Corset, Petite Casbah, Le mystère Lucy Lost, and Mochy are the highlights of the year.
The Le Jeu de Paume cinema in Vizille and the Espace Aragon in Villard-Bonnot have been co-organizing the festival since 2016. It features 6 screens, approximately 250 screenings, and over 40 films, all at a flat rate of €5.
The "From Page to Screen" theme brings together 11 films based on children's novels, evaluated by the Children's Jury (ages 8-10), the Youth Jury (ages 11-12), and the Adult Jury, each presenting their awards on stage during the evening of Saturday, October 24th. Other sections include current releases and previews, the toddler corner (ages 3-6), the treasure chest (classics to discover or revisit), and Les Animés, dedicated to Asian animation.
Cécile Guillard, artistic director of Le Corset (Special Jury Prize at Cannes, three awards at Annecy), will be in attendance on October 23rd and 26th. Sylvain Pattieu, historian and children's author, will present his book Petite Casbah, 1955-1965 following the film of the same name. François Barge-Prieur, founder of Les Fiches du cinéma, will discuss the adaptation of The Call of the Wild. Workshops (dubbing, editing, stop motion, cinema makeup, manga drawing), film-readings, cinema quizzes, and complimentary snacks every day round out the screenings.

Program published by the organizers in early October 2026: 28th edition, themed "From Page to Screen," with screenings at the Le Jeu de Paume cinema in Vizille and the Espace Aragon in Villard-Bonnot. Flat rate of €5 per screening; online booking is highly recommended at festivaldufilmpourenfants.fr; please note that screens 3 and 4 in Vizille are temporary spaces set up specifically for the festival. Activities are free (access included with your film ticket if they follow a screening). A quarter of a century of cinema for children
The Children's Film Festival was born in 1999 in Vizille, from the desire of a few film enthusiasts, volunteers and employees of the Le Jeu de Paume cinema, to offer children and adults a moment of sharing and discovery around the 7th art. Since its first edition — which attracted 1,000 spectators for 25 screenings in a single room — the festival has continued to grow to become today a major event for youth cinema in Isère.
A rich and diverse program
Each edition offers a selection of approximately 45 films for all ages, from toddlers to teenagers, with screenings accessible from 3 years old. The program mixes previews, national releases, classic revivals, and animated films, around an annual theme. The festival also hosts the "Animés" section, dedicated to Asian animated cinema for ages 12 and up, with specific screenings and workshops.
Activities and encounters
Beyond the screenings, the festival offers numerous free activities: creative workshops, cine-concerts, meetings with directors and film professionals, exhibitions, and fun activities. These moments of exchange and discovery enrich the cinematic experience and allow young spectators to better understand filmmaking.
An expanding event
The festival now spans two towns — Vizille and Villard-Bonnot — and six cinema rooms, totaling approximately 250 screenings and 17,000 admissions per edition. This growth reflects the public's enthusiasm for this unique event that contributes to media literacy and the development of young viewers' perspectives.
