Children's Film Festival

A quarter of a century of cinema for children

The Children's Film Festival was born in 1999 in Vizille, from the desire of a few film enthusiasts, volunteers and employees of the Le Jeu de Paume cinema, to offer children and adults a moment of sharing and discovery around the 7th art. Since its first edition — which attracted 1,000 spectators for 25 screenings in a single room — the festival has continued to grow to become today a major event for youth cinema in Isère.

A rich and diverse program

Each edition offers a selection of approximately 45 films for all ages, from toddlers to teenagers, with screenings accessible from 3 years old. The program mixes previews, national releases, classic revivals, and animated films, around an annual theme. The festival also hosts the "Animés" section, dedicated to Asian animated cinema for ages 12 and up, with specific screenings and workshops.

Activities and encounters

Beyond the screenings, the festival offers numerous free activities: creative workshops, cine-concerts, meetings with directors and film professionals, exhibitions, and fun activities. These moments of exchange and discovery enrich the cinematic experience and allow young spectators to better understand filmmaking.

An expanding event

The festival now spans two towns — Vizille and Villard-Bonnot — and six cinema rooms, totaling approximately 250 screenings and 17,000 admissions per edition. This growth reflects the public's enthusiasm for this unique event that contributes to media literacy and the development of young viewers' perspectives.
