Short film festival driven by a passion for cinema
Pour Faire Court is a short film festival organized annually in Lyon by the association Short Event. Born from the shared passion of Lyon students for cinema, this festival highlights the short film format by welcoming amateur, student, and professional filmmakers around a thematic selection. The selected films are screened to an enthusiastic audience, and a jury awards several prizes during a festive closing ceremony.
Since 2018, the Pour Faire Court festival has celebrated short films in Lyon with an original and accessible format. Organized by the Short Event association, this festival was born from the desire of Lyon students to create their own cinematic event, a space for meeting and sharing where short films reign supreme.
Each edition revolves around an imposed theme that guides filmmakers in their creative process. Films, ranging from 5 to 15 minutes, are submitted by filmmakers from all backgrounds—amateurs, film students, and professionals—and selected by an artistic committee. The festival evening features the screening of the competing films, followed by discussions with the creative teams and an awards ceremony.
A professional jury and a student jury evaluate the competing films, while the audience votes for their favorite:
Pour Faire Court asserts itself as a true launchpad for young Lyon and French filmmakers. The festival offers valuable visibility to independent short films and fosters encounters between filmmakers, film students, and passionate viewers. The friendly atmosphere and the artistic rigor of the selection make each edition a moment of cinematic discovery.
The Short Event association, based in Lyon, has been organizing the festival since its inception. Its goal is to use cinematic codes as vectors of emotion and sharing, making short films accessible to the widest possible audience.
The 9th edition of Pour Faire Court will be held in April 2026 in Lyon on the theme 'Let's shiver! To the rhythm of emotions'. The films, ranging from 5 to 15 minutes, will be screened in competition before a jury and the public.
