The Printemps de Bourg Art et Patrimoine is a free festival held every spring in the old town of Bourg-Saint-Andéol, a Rhône city in southern Ardèche rich in exceptional architectural heritage. Since 2019, this cultural event invites the public to rediscover the town's historic streets, squares, and monuments through a rich program of shows, concerts, exhibitions, and activities.
The festival is supported by a collective of local associations, primarily Patrimoine Bourguésan and La Troupe Sauvage. They are joined by numerous partners: the photo-club, Le MagaZin (writing space), La Menuiserie, La Cascade (National Circus Arts Center), the Bourg hospital, Bourg en Fleurs, Bourg Initiative, the festival committee, and the Tourist Office. This associative mobilization demonstrates the attachment of the people of Bourg to their heritage.
Over three days, Printemps de Bourg offers over fifteen shows, concerts, exhibitions, and activities, all free, in the historic center. The program includes a book fair with professional booksellers, exhibitions of paintings and photographs, guided tours of the town with artists, jazz concerts and contemporary music, theatrical performances, and writing and poetry workshops.
The 7th edition of Printemps de Bourg, from May 23 to 25, 2025, featured the theme “An image, a story,” exploring the links between visual heritage and narrative. The book fair hosted 12 professional booksellers and the launch of the book “Alphabet de Bourg.” The Compagnons du Devoir presented their bookstore, and Lucie Branco, a stone carver and the first female compagnon author, was the guest of honor. City tours with singer Moonia and jazz concerts punctuated the weekend.
Bourg-Saint-Andéol, located on the banks of the Rhône at the entrance to the Ardèche gorges, boasts remarkable architectural heritage: Renaissance private mansions, a Romanesque church, a Gallo-Roman bas-relief of the god Mithras, washhouses, and fountains. Printemps de Bourg takes advantage of these riches by setting up its events in the historic streets, squares, and buildings of the town, transforming the old center into a vast open-air exhibition and performance space.
